pulling audio from dvds/mpegs/avis?

can anyone reccomend a program to pull audio from video files/dvds?

im mostly looking to convert selected sections to .wavs

i have soundforge 6.0 but i dont have the mpeg plug in for it, so it wont open video files
and i cant seem to find an SN for it

welcome to any suggestions(doesnt need to be a lavish program, as id import the wav into soundforge and work from there)
