Seems to double ATI's performance in most tests.

Correct me if i'm wrong..but arent they comparing a next gen card vs whats already available? Your comment is missleading since its not a preview of Nvidia's next gen hardware vs ATI's next gen hardware..

Well I guess ATI needs to put out their next gen card then so accurate comparisons can be made!
Fig 5. Dual molex power connectors, both are needed to supply sufficient power.

...

Pretty soon they'll need their own 120V power supply. (Or however many volts it is!)

To satisfy the 222 million transistor behemoth's hunger for power, NVIDIA strongly suggests the use of a power supply with a minimum capacity of 480 Watts.

lol! damn, that's crazy. I'd have to upgrade my case and power supply just to run one of these. (but I might do it!)

Like Janx said, the comparisons are misleading as they're comparing two different generations. This is still a seriously impressive card though (especially considering the current batch are running with a 400mhz core, leaving them a lot of room to grow). Even if ATI upgrades their plans to use 16 pixel pipelines (from the current 12) to match the nv40, I think they'll still have a hard time keeping up.

The power requirements are a little disconcerting, but it's to be expected. And it will only get worse as the tech increases.
