Another Wireless Connection

Post by Psyloche »

A friend of mine has a wireless connection set up in his house, there's somebody else in the neighborhood who has a WLAN set up as well. Apparently for the last, I don't know how long, my friend has been mooching off his neighbor's signal I think. When I try to connect to the Linksys (his) I get no signal while the Netgear one is available, albeit weak. I don't even have the slightest clue what would be wrong because when I was last here it was working perfectly fine.

Try changing the channel on the Linksys.

I ran into this on my laptop...my internal lucent wireless card constantly dropped connection to my linksys wireless router and tried to grab a connection to a neighbor's wireless netgear...

I updated drivers and tried to force the channel but the condition persisted...I ended up buying a linksys card and while I could still connect to the other router my laptop "preferred" the stronger compatible signal from my linksys...

So ya know be sure the card drivers are the most compatible available with the router...
