Ok, so we all know that the ongoing joke about Ooter is that he was captured at Fort Springfield on a field trip by Springfield Elementary. He is presumed dead.
Later on, in one episode, the one where Homer becomes a food critic. Principal Skinner is having dinner with Ooter's mother and father. During the supper he, Principal Skinner, tells them "Did you hear? Homer is a food critic!" , Ooter's father bangs his hand on the table and shouts "Quit changing the subject! Where is Ooter?" The mother then pleeds , "We just want closure."
Also I forget where they were going but Sprinfield Elementary is going on another school trip and one of the kids says "As a matter of fact, we haven't seen Ooter since our last field trip." Principal Skinner then nervously replies "What are you talking about? No such thing ever happened. In fact there is no such person. Ooter. Funny name. Ooter".
Aaaaaaaaaaaanyhow, so I was watching a rerun of a recent enough episode. The one where Homer builds a robot for Bart but he is in fact inside the robot. When Homer fights Professor Frink's robot and he gets stepped on. He bursts out of the robot. At this point Sideshow Mel stands up in the crowd and says something along the lines of 'That robot just gave birth to a human". At that point if you look behind him. Ooter is in the stands. A little later on in the episode the crowd boos the show and starts throwing stuff on the floor. Sure enough Ooter is still sitting behind Mel.
I was like. OOTER!!! He is still alive!! lol
Has anyone else noticed any occasions where Ooter appears in the show after his presumed death?
I thought they were going to have him name engraved on the Springfield Elementary Memorial for School Trips (the episode Bart and Lisa wander away and get lost on a field trip.) But his name is not there. Which makes sense now.... since he is still alive!
Long live Ooter!
