Canadians entering the USA
Canadians entering the USA
With the United States cracking down on evil types entering our country, do Canadians have to be fingerprinted along with the rest of the foreigners?
I know airports are doing it but wasn't sure about border crossings.

Canadians should be strip searched, hosed down, and deloused before being granted access.
Unless they're smuggling Cuban cigars or Northern Lights.

I cross the border all the time and no one even checks my drivers liscense most of the time. My husband gets railroaded to the point where he won't even cross unless it's for his work now. The last time we went over together they took the interior of his brand new lexus apart and made us sit and watch while they "ran checks" (read: laughed their asses off at the dumb nigger and his mixer wife) on him.
So to answer your question: white people don't have to.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

I think it all depends on where you're crossing. I haven't been across the border since probably within a year of 9/11, but they didn't want to let us back into the US without our passports, even though I had a US driver's license and they hadn't even asked for a passport on the way into Canada.
So at least from the Detroit-Windsor border, they were requiring a DL and a passport.

Shit this could not be more accurate, I just have a fucking tan and i am a part of the "random search" everytime...that and my last names Arribaskyoukan wrote:Canadian fed is so desperate to get you up here with your US dollars they'd probably let you in with a note from your mom. =p
One time I got my car searched going back in to Canada but that was before cigarette prices in washington state skyrocketed and smuggling them was a huge problem.
Sadly, that is true.. when I lived in Texas I looked pretty much hispanic (I get a tan just from looking at the sun) and I got stopped everywhere.. since I moved to Ohio and.. well there ain't much sun here so I lost most of the tan, I have never been stopped.
As for the fingerprinting.. I came in this fall and did not need a fingerprint then. It was either an electronic passport or a visa. I *think* fingerprinting at least for now is only some countries, ie those who are not on the visa waiver list. I could be wrong though.

If you would drive instead of swimming across the border they may not check you every time.
My wife gets pulled out at a minimum of 80% of the time she has to fly. She is a blond with blue eyes and is about as scary looking as a nun. If you get searched every time, it is all about you either looking too nervous or sheer bad luck.

Fingerprints? Pfft. That's nothing. I have to get a long form birth certificate, police records, have a medical (chest x-ray, blood tests, etc) and who knows what else. Then when I go for my interview they will ask me if I am a terrorist and ask details about my relationship with my fiance.
But that's because I'm moving to the States.
I'm not sure if I'll still have to have fingerprints or whatever at the airport. I've never been on a plane before, or been in an airport larger than the Sudbury airport, so I'm a little freaked out.

Hush, you! You are going to be just fine... well, as "fine" as you can be when you are moving to somewhere as tropical as AlaskaLegenae wrote:Fingerprints? Pfft. That's nothing. Yea, they make you jump through tons of hoops to move to the states. What about a work visa? Will you be able to legally work there? I had a friend who got married (both were Canadian tho), and they moved to California because her husband got a job at a company there, but she couldn't get a visa to work.

Archerion: The hunnie just received the letter yesterday that the visa was approved (we had seen it first on the INS website). So, according to the letter, Montreal will be notified within the week about the visa approval. So, hopefully I'll be getting that packet in the mail within a couple of weeks!
I'm not too worried about the Alaskan climate.
It does get fairly warm in Anchorage during the summer I am told, just without the humidity! Which I certainly won't miss!! As for the winters... I live in Northern Ontario... I can handle snow.
Dregor: We applied for the fiance(e) visa. Once I cross the border, we have to be married within 90 days. After that, I'll have to apply for a green card or something. I've been told that it would be easier to get a work visa/greencard/whatever using my chemistry background. Which suits me just fine.. I love working in a lab.
I just have to remember to get a travel permit(?) once I cross the border. Should I have to come back home for an emergency, I'll need it so I could get back into the States.
*edit* because spelling is hard

Back in the late '70's I remember going in to Mexico by way of Laredo (sp) with school, we were checked coming back in to Texas, we would show our Military dependent cards. One of the guys in class was Peurto Rican (sp) and he forgot his card in the motel and we had to convince the border guards he was really with us, the finally listened after a teacher showed up and let him come with us. (we were all 7th graders at the time)
In '89 we were stationed in upstate New York, we went in to Canada. We went in two cars, hubby and father in law in one and all us hens in the other,
both cars were checked coming back in to New York.
Here in Birmingham bout 2 summers ago I took my nephew to the airport here to send him home, we sat and watched a bunch of people get pulled to the side and their bags checked. Everyone of them were white that day.
I am sure there are people out there that will pull people to the side because of color or wearing clothing that points out their faith but I think most of being pulled aside is bad luck or looking nervous. (expecting it because of x,y, or z for a reason)
