Gemstone III or IV

Post by Aevian Dreaklear »

Anyone ever play this game or still does? I used to play this game way back in the day. For those of you who don't know, it's a text based MMORPG. I think the term MUD was also used but I have no idea what that means. Anyhoo, they have switched the game over to GS IV which has a different look from what I hear with new spells and skills and all that crap.

My question is if anyone is playing it now and has any opinions on it. If anyone has played the game before and after the upgrade to the game I would appreciate the input. I still heavily play EQ but have been itching to give this game another try.

I recently logged into GSIV - I used to play Gemstone III all the time before switching to EQ.

I found it boring and couldn't get myself to play it anymore. Not much has changed game wise, other then the new user interface. It took me awhile to figure out how exactly to reallocate my character.

It's worth a try if you like text based games and can still play them. Not many changes though - Simutronics has a way of taking *years* before implementing things, the spell lists are still not finished.

I played Rubyjoy in GSIII.

I used to love GSIII but all the friends I played with quit/etc and like Thess, it's not as easy to get into anymore.

I used to play GS3 back when I worked at Compuserve and was able to play for free.
Just not worth paying for anymore. Too many good MUDs out there for free if I get bored with the games I have.
