WOXY Sold

Post by Xouqoa »

WOXY has sold their broadcasting license to First Broadcasting Investment Partners of Dallas. This makes me very TT.

The station will continue on in an online only format, but I fear the worst for the future of it. :(

It was only a matter of time. I have no doubt they are the most widely listened to online radio. And yes, with a big of a market as Dallas is, you can expect major top 40 conformity to follow.

Then again, I could be wrong.

well, if their current format sells advertising, don't expect it to change.

i guess what i'm saying is, big corporations really only want to make money. If WOXY In its current form has a higher operating margin than a streamlined "canned radio" type corporate station, then i dont expect it to change much.

I think the advertising revenues they were pulling in were just enough to keep the station running and pay the salaries of the employees. I also think the Dallas company bought the frequency so they can turn around and sell it to Infinity or Clear Channel, so they can further pollute the air waves with their garbage.

I really don't think they are going to leave it in it's current format. I'd be very suprised. I just hope the internet radio thing works out. It can, if they can afford the bandwidth.

Clear Channel definately has the majority of the radio stations in Dallas now, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
