Back Away From the Vase Ma'am

Post by Chmee »

Last year Sandy Meadows, who supervises the floral department at an Albertson's supermarket in Baton Rouge, was filling in at another Albertson's store that had lost its florist when she was visited by an inspector from the Louisiana Horticulture Commission. He told her she'd have to throw out the seven arrangements she had produced that morning if she wanted to avoid a $250 citation for practicing floristry without a license.

The whole thing is here.

Because the test is administered by other licensed florists, who apparently don't want the competition. IT'S A FUCKING FLORIST CONSPIRICY I TELLS YA!!!

They should also investigate the price fixing on roses that we see as well. Them florists need to be regulated.

Indeed, the "why" is quite thoroughly discussed w/in the article. Tres ridicule!

Suffice to say, van Gough would never have recieved a licence to paint...

This matter needs looked into by the ketchup advisory board methinks...
But even if it were a valid measure of flower arranging ability, it would not be a valid exercise of government power. There is no reason to believe that consumers are incapable of judging for themselves whether a flower arrangement looks nice.

It's just an attempt by the government to keep a registry of gay men.

oh.

I didn't bother reading the article since it was from reason.com, I imagined it was just some paranoid libertarian ranting about nonsensical horse shit that only appeals to rich white males. doubtless the guy is making half of it up anyway.

she should not pay the fines and take it in front of a judge that way instead of filing a federal suit.

That wasn't nice Kyou. Libertarians aren't rich white males. We are at best middle income small business owners. This case would definitely interest a Libertarian's objections against over involvement by the government though.

Of course I didn't bother reading the article either...hehe
