The Pitch Black sequel

Post by a_guide »

I liked the first one well enough, but from what I gathered from the preview this one has a much bigger more involved and radically different storyline. Undecided whether thats a good thing or not but I hope so.

It is strange that such a likeable character came out of Pitch Black. I thought the movie was pretty decent, but strangely found Vin's character really fucking cool! The preview for 'Riddick' looked sorta so-so, as far as story, but I think it will be pretty slick.

I still fail to see what a mech army and legions of humans have to do with a strange creature infestation on a planet that only happens when the planet is in perfect alignment for a total solar eclipse. I know that Vin gets his pick of scripts these days, and I sincerely hope this turns out better than xXx, but I think I'd have preferred him being taken back to the original planet to guide for an outpost or a scientific mission or something and have at least a coherent plot progressive story occur.

That looks cool.
I'll be watching.
Akaran of Mistmoore, formerly Akaran of Veeshan
I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Has nothing to do with it. That was just one chapter in the Riddik story so to speak. They are focusing on the man, not the Pitch Black planet. I am eagerly awaiting this movie.

Can you say Aliens?
I knew you could.
So they probably didn't want to go that route.

I liked Riddick and the first movie.
But I've got a thing for Vin =)

I'll have to watch Pitch Black again, but I don't recall them making Riddik that deep of a character. They gave him a criminal background and modified eyes, and apparently he was wanted somewhere because he was strapped up by a bounty hunter/space cop/whatever... I didn't get the sense he was some sort of revolutionary hero however. The mystique of his character was that he was infamous, sly and evil, probably not the type to get caught between two sides of a war and have to fight his way out.

Yes, but wasn't the first one just like Aliens too? Mix it up a little. Just let James Cameron work his magic.

You obviously weren't paying attention during the movie. The space cop ended up the bad guy, and Riddick ended up the good guy. Yes they developed the character, he was one of like 2 that had development.
