omg teh racial tapestry of King Arthur will be full of Anglos and Saxons so let's get a 4th string black director to do the movie so it doesn't look like a bunch of whiteboys making a movie about Crackerland 500 AD!11!!1!1

Welcome to the racial tapestry of yet another fantasy story, let alone one that delves into the Anglo-Saxon wars in England after the Roman occupation ended.

My only hope for this film is that it somehow tries to follow the Mary Stewart books about Merlin and Arthur. Looking at the previews and from Antoine Fuqua's previous statements/movies, somehow I think this will just be another Training Day, but with a pack of barbarous knights and some fearless/unbeatable guy named Arthur.

I totally agree. They need to make sure that Spike Lee directs this.

Hey speaking of that, I heard they're doing a movie on King Richard the Lionheart, where all the bad people are muslims from the Ottoman empire. Why the hell is everyone so racist?
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

There really can't be anything better than Excalibur for this over used storyline. Hell on New Years Day they had some shit on TNT I think where the played First Knight and then Mists of Avalon back to back and possibly others along these lines.

I'll go see this movie but mainly for the battles and not the story of the king's wench who fucks his champion. Arthur should have taken her head soon as he found out.

Isn't the Arthur saga based on an old Roman General who stayed behind when the legions left? I used to know his name but I am at work and can't look in my books.

A pox on Moors and Saracens!

That's one theory.. There's actually 3 working theories at the last time I did any research into it.

1. Arthur, who is called Artos in some of the original reference writings was a roman general, wounded in defense of Winchester against Saxon invaders from the Germanic territories. He was taken to wales to recover and came across Merlin in the hollow hills. He then traveled to the Isle of Avalon where he met Gueneveure, married her, constructed the Giant's Dance at Stonehenge and ran the Saxons out of England, uniting the kingdoms into one country.

2. Arthur, a French noble who came to England in defense of the common brittonian cause against the saxons. He won many battles and was proclaimed king of the realm by the nobles after finally driving the last of the saxons off of the shores.

3. Artos, a Russian child finds a sword in a rock in the center of a lake. He pulls the sword from the stone and becomes a fabled hero and king of his own provence. He is later killed by his illegitimate son who is being driven to madness by Artos' malevolent sister.

The "Arthur" we know of today is a little bit of all 3 of those stories tied into one character that came to be King Arthur.

Well it looks interesting at least. It's written by the same person who wrote and produced Gladiator. It also has Kiera Knightley, so it can't be all bad :D. While I was at imdb looking to see who wrote it I found that the person that wrote it is also writing a movie about Hannibal, the Carthaginian general.

Here's how I expect the story to go:

- Starts off with a fight scene. Get the audience really juiced from the get go.
- Introduce the primary characters, possibly in a flashback or a voiceover of their epic deeds. Include cuts of various fight scenes.
- Another fight scene. Make this one a little different tho. Spears.
- Attempt to fabricate a chemistry between the hero and the heroine. Don't spend too long on it, cap it off with some fighting. Show cleavage.
- Giant meteor spotted streaking to earth by Merlin. Rounds up Arthur and his gang of knights for important mission to stop it.
- Lots of flashy, glittery things. Impress the audience with bling bling.
- Big Battle(tm). Have minor knight die to add emotional impact to final fight, Galahad maybe.
- Have an epic fight betweem Arthur and the meteor.
- CSI crew comes in to dust for prints and figure out who killed Merlin's cat.
