Help us Test "The Fallen"
Please help us with testing the new server rule-set for "The Fallen". If you would like to help test this exciting new concept, please patch to EverQuest using Testeverquest.exe, which you can find in your Everquest directory. Once patched, select "The Fallen" from the server directory and you are in. Here is the proposed rule-set for this server;
- Any character that is slain for any reason what so ever will be reset and placed back into newbie status. Characters will not be restored or resurrected for ANY reason what so ever. Once you're dead, you're dead.
- Each account will only be allowed one character on this server. Any PvP death results in the killing player obtaining a number of points based on the levels of the characters involved. Players can only gain points from characters that are within 5 levels of them.
- You may loot all tradeable items from the corpse of the character you just killed, all other equipment is destroyed with the character.
- The server will make use of the Firiona Vie no drop rules (few things will be No-Drop)
- The server will have the old world (Antonica, Faydwer, Odus) plus the Legacy of Ykesha expansion , and will only allow characters to reach level 50 with no AA.
- The server will have a doubled experience modifier to facilitate faster paced gameplay.
- Players will not be able to turn on /anonymous or /roleplay to hide their current location.
Help us out and let us know what you think. You can use the Submit Comment link on the Dev Corner to send us your feedback and ideas.
Thanks for your help and I hope you enjoy "The Fallen"

Looks like a new server is incomming, with a really strange ruleset too...

The first time someone makes it to 40+ and then dies once only to completely lose everything, I'm guessing they'll quit. Unless the xp modifier is such that you can level at an insane pace.. Talk about Nag/Vox never being attempted..
So do you also lose everything that was on the character that can't be played again?

Supposedly it will run for a month, and then will go through a player wipe (presumably if it has enough interest they will run it again).
Probably not my cup of tea, but something different. I like to see them trying new things. If it doesn't prove popular, with the restricted time frame they can just discontinue it and recycle the hardware for something else.

I think it would be a neat idea if PvP in EQ was remotely balanced, but its not. In those zones that are included, casters will own pretty much most melee. Especially consdering the gear available, it'll be pretty hard for melee to resist most anything. I'd be interested to see how bards do, but I don't really remember what songs they have up to 50 so who knows, maybe it'll still be necro and druid dominant.
At low levels bards aren't really anything special pvp-wise. Basically un killable by anything except a wiz / nec / lucky druid, but not really able to kill anyone of the same lvl by ourselves. Unless you're crazy enough to try to stay and fight them, a bard really isn't going to kill you, just harass. If they use the same rules as like SZ, (training allowed etc) then they could be pretty nasty. We also get our first charm at 27, and it takes no mana so we can make some nasty pets.
Btw by low lvl I'm talking 20-40ish.

I tried it last night. Started a Gnome Shadow Knight.
I got to L3 killing those L1 mecha rats in the city, then went out into Steamfont to try to do more killing.
A red-conned agressive Gnome killed me and I was back at L1 -- time lost, an hour ... /camp desktop
Unless you have a group of friends to play with, you'll never see any high level enchanters and other support classes.
The highest level character that I saw last night was a L13 necro (there was a bunch of them in the same undead dungeon zone in the low teens, so I assumed they are grouping.

I hear there is a mage currently dominating the server, lumona or something similar. I read an account of her attack against a party (who absolutely sucked), and she wasted them quickly. They had a shaman, wizard, pally, and a few more. They didn't even try to stun or blind.
The wizzy did train some skellies on Lumona, but the mage somehow dodged them. It was pretty funny. Apparently this mage knows how to play the class pretty well.

I was owning up with my lvl 8 wizard. I think I ran across that mage, but they ran when they saw me pimping a necro, and enchanter of same lvls.
Then suddenly a puma attacked my enchanter while i was afk, and all was lost! I cried to hard I forgot about my wizard and he died also. What a fucking night. Boy was I pissed.
Higest lvl so far was 16. Was a necro and mage.

I only got to lvl 8. I was able to restart, and get lvl 4 with in 20 minsish.
Exp is good if you find the right spots. Killing rats in hometowns is the fastest way for Gold and lvl 4. If you really wish to know how to get to lvl 4 real fast gimmie a Pm
When I went to Upper Guk at lvl 5, each kill at zone in gave me @ 1.2bubs of exp. One of my roommates went from lvl 6-8 in 15 mins.
The exp should be a LOT faster. Or just start everyone at lvl 8 with full spell book.

I'd get to level 30 or so and then kill newbies as they dinged level 5 with one DD.Runcade wrote:some info on it. i was playing on it earlier. cant pvp till lvl 5. when you die you lose all skill points also. exp is 2x normal.
It's too easy to die. The amount of time spent leveling to 50 only to die to a mob is not worth it.
A BETTER idea is to start everyone out at level 50..be permanently level 50 (possibly with all spells already in book). You then adventure out and try to equip yourself. The risk of losing all your items is plenty. Screw all the leveling. Everyone at level 50 and make the game obtaining items. A Naggy wipe would then only cause you to spend the hours necessary to re-equip your character as opposed to an insane amount of time releveling.
I heard there is going to be a LEGENDS version of this but everyone will be in GOD mode and cant die.

That only makes sense if you are given level equivelent equipment (for PvP no less), otherwise A_Naked_Wizard99 kills A_Naked_Warrior01 while he can only beat on the caster (or his 49 pet!) with his fists.Winnow wrote:A BETTER idea is to start everyone out at level 50..be permanently level 50 (possibly with all spells already in book). You don't think that having Ice Comet would make A_Naked_Wizard99 overpowered do you???!Ashur [FoH] wrote:That only makes sense if you are given level equivelent equipment (for PvP no less), otherwise A_Naked_Wizard99 kills A_Naked_Warrior01 while he can only beat on the caster (or his 49 pet!) with his fists.
Level 25 with some generic gear would more than suffice. There would still be room to xp to higher level and room to grow your gear but without the true n00b fest of the early levels.
