Brand computers + Spyware

Post by valryte »

How good are programs like Spybot S&D against the spyware that companies like Toshiba pre-install? I recently bought one of those Toshiba Satellite notebooks and SpyBot found something called C-Dilla. I'm wondering if there is anything else lurking around. I currently have WinRoute firewall installed so I'll be able to monitor it, just wondering what experiences other people have had. BTW, is removing C-Dilla going to have any negative effects?

C-Dilla bad! If I remember I think Turbo Tax people took a lot of flak last year because they had that in there. I know I stopped using their stuff because of it. Tax Act was free!. As far as I know there are no ill effects from removing it.

I just recently downloaded Spybot at the recommendation from a friend. I found that it dug a lot deeper into the registry than Adaware did and it found shit that Adaware didn't find. It also found C-Dilla and said that it was a bad thing so I got rid of it. I hate that spyware shit.
