SWG Player Cities.. LOL

Post by noel »

Apparently SOE is removing the ability for players to ban others from the player cities. I wonder if this has anything to do with it.

Perhaps it's because I never played SWG, but what exactly is going on in that picture?

Actually, on further review, it appears that is a GM or something?

Basically, there are now (recently released) player run cities in the game. Please don't ask me how exactly that works, but I'm under the impression that players can govern themselves etc.

What you're seeing in that picture is a GM standing outside a player city who is banned from the city, and cannot enter. The GM appears to be threatening to ban whomever is responsible, but sadly he can't get in to find out who. :P

It would appear that the feature could have used a bit more testing.

Edit: He also appears to have just gotten his ass kicked, as he is incapacitated. :) Anarchy is fun!

Apparently SOE is claiming that there were other exploits going on with the feature as well. As I said, I'm not certain how it works, but thought you guys might get a chuckle out of the picture.

Is that the normal graphics for the game? That looks horrible.

You incapacitate CSR-DanielG.

"Whoever banned me has 30 seconds to unban me from the city."

CSR-DanielG has been warned and will be attackable in 30 seconds.

In a manner of speaking normal. It looks like whomever took that SS has the higher res textures turned off.

I'd say it's representative, but you can get MUCH better shots than that in SWG.

Unfortunately, when I left the game, there was NO ONE on ANY gaming rig that was getting higher than 30FPS. Didn't matter if they were using ATI, Nvidia, or what their processor/RAM was, the game engine just sucks ass.

The banning and warning abilities of the city militias were being exploited. Basically you could build your city near the "entrance" to an area in the game that everyone wants to get to. If you citywarn them and they don't leave the town within 30 seconds, they can be attacked by the militia without being able to fight back. If they are banned, they then cannot enter the city.

Some people were just killing people as they went through their city in order to keep them from getting to the places on the other side of town.

What it looks like happened in that pic is that a militia member used /citywarn on a CSR, and then killed him and /citybanned him. That may have kept him from getting up from the incapacitation since they did not deathblow him.

It was a joke...

But I knew some wouldn't get it. That's just the price I pay for being so damn witty.
