For those considering Planetside

Post by noel »

If you have Windows XP, there's a 30 day trial thing going on. So if you don't want to pay for it, you could try this...

http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot/misc/d ... index.html
Windows XP has partnered once again with the best publishers to bring you another XP Extra, exclusively for Windows XP gamers. Download the full version of PlanetSide™ from Sony Online Entertainment® and play free for 30 days.

Lock and load! It's time to choose a side and arm yourself for the only massively multiplayer online first-person action game. Wage war alongside thousands in a persistent global conflict of unprecedented scale with this 30-day exclusive trial of PlanetSide for Windows XP users. After your 30 days are up, there's no need to buy the game, because with this exclusive deal, you can keep playing for just $12.99 per month!

Enter your e-mail address, click the "Play PlanetSide" button, and you'll be instructed on how to use our GameSpot Secure Delivery Network to receive your download. Shortly thereafter, you'll receive an e-mail with your unique registration code. This code allows you to access the trial version of PlanetSide.

(Important Note: You will be required to enter a valid credit card number and have Windows XP installed to play the free trial. After the 30-day trial period ends, and unless you cancel your trial subscription before the end of the 30-day trial period, Sony Online Entertainment® will begin to charge your credit card on a monthly basis.)

Honestly, I've always thought the actual requirement should have been 1GB. =\

How exactly does it relate to XP? Will an illegal copy of it work? Do you need some stupid Primo Platinum Mecha-Edition Gamespot membership of Ownage or something?

Got me...

Who knows with Microsoft/Gamespot/Sony...

Talk about evil alliances. Anyway, apparently you can just download it.

All 3GB of it. :P

There's only one expansion, it seems to be bug ridden and little used. I don't think it includes it, and I don't think you'll miss it.

Answered my own question. Just dl'd it on the XP machine, then moved it to the other and it works fine.

*edit* oh, and this includes all but the expansion if that hasn't already been mentioned.
