Dawn of the Dead

Post by Deward »

I have been looking to buy a copy of this movie. It is out of print and Ebay seems to have all foreign release versions that I would rather not risk. Anyone know where I can get a copy of this on DVD? I know there are a bunch of different versions as well and I would like the best one I can get with as little uncut as possible.

They are making a set to be released soon bud. All three movies. Also they are talking about making a 4th movie called "Dusk of the Dead" or some shit like that. I do know that they are remaking Dawn of the Dead. I saw the previews here.

Here is another great site for these movies.

That's a region 2 version. Can't find region 1 alas but that Region 2 disc is the longest cut I've seen released.

Dawn of the Dead will be rereleased on DVD 1st Quarter 2004. The original DVD has been out of print for some time now. Having just rereleased Day of the Dead last September or so, Anchor Bay will have a Special Edition of 'Dawn' including all 3 cuts (theatrical release, director's cut, and alternate cut/ending).

Night of the Living Dead is also going to be rereleased later in '04.

I am very much looking forward to the 'Dawn' Spec. Ed. as it is one of the finest horror movies of all time. :D

And yes, there is a remake due soon that looks completely different, but seems to have its own charm all the same (from what the trailor looked like, at least).

As far as a 4th installment, this is mostly speculation, and many different titles have been thrown around (re: Dusk of the Dead, Dead Reckoning, etc.).

If Romero does get the budget he wants, I am sure he will follow through. Word is, there is a preliminary script floating around somewhere...

And more news....

Creature-Corner reports, "Dawn of the Dead is indeed arriving March 9th but in a single-disc package under Anchor Bay's Divimax banner (similar to the aforementioned Day of the Dead and this year's Halloween: 25th Anniversary Edition). This disc will feature a 16 X 9 theatrical cut transfer and a few Extras that are still being finalized. Later in '04, Anchor Bay will release a multi-disc Special Edition of Dawn some time before Halloween/late summer. The number of discs contained within is a detail still being worked out by the disc's producers. Our AB rep assures us that this package will contain multiple cuts of the film and numerous commentaries. Also expect brand spankin' new interviews with cast and crew, amongst them: George Romero, Dario Argento, David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger, and Gaylen Ross."
