Gothika (Minor Spoilers on my part)

Post by Kithyen »

Over all was a good movie. I think all the actors did a fantastic job and their was some worthwhile suspense in it. I have to say, however the ending seemed extremely rushed and the final scene didn't really fit well for me. Halle Barrey's character got away with hacking up her husband? Did I miss something? If it would've fastfoward a few years and she just got done serving a temporary insanity plea it woulda made sense, but it just dropped you right into her walking Chloe to the busstop as if only days or weeks had passed. I'm not too familiar with the law but I don't think that's something the justice system would look past regardless of her husband's secret activities.
Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
THIS is the way the world ends.

Didn't like the movie that well. It was a good story, but not one that can be told without going into mass detail (maybe on the dvd). Chloe didn't really seem all that necessary to me at all. She was played will, but overall did not have an impact on the movie what so ever. The movie was really fucking predictable, though, how it actually unfolded was quite the surprise. I mean, what the fuck was up with that mini snuff film plot?

I give it a D+

the movie was better the first few times i saw it...... as stir of echoes, and 6th sense

the plot itself was too rehashed and thin, just throwing in a few slick phych angles

it wouldve been a LOT better had halle berry not been in it, penelope cruz and robert downey were kickass

i shall end with analogies

halle berry : gothika
j.lo : the cell
nick cage : 8mm

oh i agree,

i just think all of those movies couldve been 20x better had they not had the token 'big name' actor/actress in them, (only 2x better for gothika)

the supporting casts in all of them carried the shitty actors/acresses on their shoulders and the movies suffered
