not gonna defend thieves, what's not mine I won't touch, but if they cut off 3-6 feet tops off of 16 feet tall trees there's still some 10 feet left.

They say those trees would be eventually sold to commercial foresters to be processed into paper but they're now ruined? I'd think what they have left, the thickest part of the tree, is still good to make paper, no? Better than 1 inch thick tree tops

You can find those tree tops on the lot of the nearest wal-mart for sale...$20 each.

Well if you cut the tops off the trees will have to be cut down fairly quick or they will lose quality of timber. It will also reduce their growth etc. It is possible to lose a LOT of money this way.
