Specifically, how the hell do you play it?
A co-worker bought it for me, so I figured I'd give it a spin. No harm in that, right?
Jesus, that UI is so confusing. Can anyone link me to a tutorial site on how to play the game? I don't need or want a walkthrough, just an explanation on how things work, what they mean, and the menu/spell/ability system.
EDIT: I got the Collection edition, so I got the Throne of Bhaal expansion and the bonus CD too, but no manual/rulebook.
Need help with Baldur's Gate 2....

Main thing to remember is that you don't have to issue commands in real time. The space bar (pause) is your friend. When you encounter enemies, pause the game, issue your commands, and then unpause it to see how things pan out. If something is not going your way, you can pause it again and change the commands.
"Our problems are man-made, therefore they may be solved by man. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings." - John F Kennedy
If only I knew what the commands were
Thanks for the pause tip tho.. That should make things worlds easier.
The game came with no manual or tutorial program to explain anything about the UI or weapon/armor system and after the 4th run trying to get out of that jail cell you start in, even with picking up the clearly homosexually repressed hampster guy and caster woman, I've about had it with trying to figure the game out.

You can also decide a script for each char.
Like if you want some of the weaker chars stand in the background and heal instead of rushing headfirst into combat, you could choose a cleric script for example.
Setting a more offensive script for the Tanks will make them rush to the enemy etc
Helps OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS.
