Free 2003 Server

Post by cid »

Yea you have to attend a seminar to get it, but it is worth it.

I have a *.pdf that shows you how to make 2003 server into a workstation if anyone wants it.

Been to thier demo/seminars - I'm going on the assumption that this is a 30-90 day trial copy rather than a full fledged license unless you know for a fact otherwise.

MS is generous w/ trial licenses and stingy on anything that lasts. Which makes sense since they are in business to sell shit.

If it is anything like the deal they did for my 2000 stuff, you can't upgrade your licenses. With my Win2000 Server that I got it is locked at 10 licenses and can't be upgraded. Which for me is perfect because I was only getting it for my home network.

I read the fine print, but MS is good at giving you something different than promised.

Not meant as a broad statement, but thier sales and marketing guys in the past have given stuff out that was trial that they implied was a full unlimited license. Sometimes they don't read the fine print to verify what the web guy put up accurately reflected what they were offering from a business perspective. "Oops, sorry you misunderstoop/we goofed, but didn't you really come here to learn what you can get from MicroSoft solutions?"

Glad to see that they have actually delivered full versions in the past. Sad to say I checked the Seminars here and none are local (wtf would they have it in Akron and not Columbus?) and I'm not driving to Akron or Cinci.

Thanks for the info though, hope some folks score the freebees.

Haven't installed it myself, and probably wont, so not sure if it's a 90 day eval thing. But if you're bored and have a CD to burn (pun!), knock yourself out.
