Aranuil seeing that you took a little time off from EQ and then came back I am very interested in your thought on all the changes and play.

I saw the title of this thread and thought, "He's baiting me. In fact, he's pretty good at it. I bet he's a Master Baiter!"
....
Then I saw your question and I though, "Wow, that's a great question."
So, I'll answer as best I can:
I logged on almost two weeks ago for the first time in about a year and a half. The new character models look decent. Some are better than others.
When I logged in, I had camped in North Freeport. Imagine my surprise to find myself one of three people in the zone. I knew about the Bazaar, so I figured Verant had finally gotten it working. When I finally got to use the bazaar, I was really impressed. Great way to shop. Too bad about all the lag.
The new UI took quite a bit of getting used to and tweaking to get it the way I like it. I like it a lot though, especially now that Verant has copied Funcom's item linking in chat idea. That worked great in AO, and I'm glad it's in EQ now.
The Channels thing is very cool too. It's nice being able to raid with groups outside of your guild, and not having to go through the whole de-tagging/re-tagging bullshit.
Remembering how to play a warrior was pretty funny too. I know all of you non-warriors think you just hit the A-key and get coffee, but I think there's a lot of little things you can do (timing stun kicks, being aware of positioning, etc.) to make yourself stand out as a good warrior. I've been reading a lot online to refresh my memory, but there's still a few things I need clarification on (specifically when to use evasive instead of defensive). Luckily, my guildmates and friends have been extremely helpful and patient with me as things have come back to me. I'm lucky to know so many great people.
The thing that I think changed/surprised me the most however, was the change in melee DPS. It's amazing how fast some of the mobs go down these days. I think this is a great thing. Obviously, the exp comes in faster, and you feel like your accomplishing more.
Overall, it's still the same game, and though I think AO has the best graphics of any current MMORPG, I think EQ is the most fun of any current MMORPG.
Take care,
Noel/Aran
