Cases

If you're shopping for a case look at the Antec Sonata:

The advertisements say it's quiet, they aren't joking. The loudest noise you hear is a faint chattering during HDD activity. I can hear the PS fan on the wife's computer from across the room now :)

I was a bit concerned about the 380 watt PS (I had a dual fan 500), doesn't seem to be a problem with my XP2500+ barton.

How much did you pay for this? I have been shopping some different cases and am looking for a decent one.

Circuit City has them for $130. Can probably find cheaper online but CC is local!

I have this one http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details_en ... odID=91082 which I got from NewEgg for like $118. It's got the 430 Watt TruePower powersupply so there is an extra link just for the fans and a connector to the MB from the PowerSupply. It will monitor the heat of the MB and increase or decrease fan speed based on need. I have 5 fans + the processor fan and it's almost completely silent. The exhaust on the side keeps the video nice and cool as well. VERY happy with it.

$108 + shipping at http://www.tcwo.com, or about $130 at CompUSA.

My old (the daughters new) tower has thermostatic fans, it's still very loud by comparison. ~20db is like listening to someone whisper 3-4 feet away.

Seriously considering getting another one for the wife's computer, listening to her fans howl is getting annoying
