FFXI Guild

Post by murr »

Myself and a few other former/current FOH are going to be grouping up in FFXI...right now it looks like myself, Stragi, Teclisen, Moglit, Ghime, Kazlaaz, Janx/Pilferr, Fattyfat, Kailo, and some of Fatty's friends. Maybe Mezzdat and some others too. If anyone's interested let me know, we have a forum set up on Fohguild.org for it that's invite only, so I just need your board name.

I realize I should know this already, but is this out, and what does it cost?

Thanks.

10/28, $49.99 with free 1 day shipping and mousepad from Ebworld.com, $10/month with $1 per additional char, but it's a class based system with easy multiclassing so don't need mult chars anyway

This any good? I was thinking about checking it out since I've always liked the FF series. I might pick it up.

I'm a big FF fanboy anyway, so I'll be checking it out. I'm still looking for a new game that can suck up some of my spare time anyway.

I consider myself a moderate FF fanboy...(I didn't even look at 8, I thought it looked like shit...)

So...I've seen it at E3...My reccomendation: Stay away, crappy game alert!!!! Seriously, I played it for like an hour, trying to find something interesting and redeeming in it.

Let's start with graphics...(although of course keep in mind it wasn't totally complete, but I'd wager it was close..) Most of the world was bland, textures weren't very good, and it didn't have the interesting feel of most FF worlds.

Spells: Almost everything is exactly like EQ...

Chocobo Riding: Yes you can, but once you get off, it runs off. I'm not sure if you can get anohter one, or one back somehow...

Airships: Yes. They're like your standard EQ boat.

Interface: Granted I only spent an hour with it, but it felt confusing a little bit.

Music: I don't know, it's kind of hard to hear music from games at E3 heh....Anyways, MMOGs shouldn't even bother trying to have it, the ammount of time playing them will make you want to put your own in anyways.

In short, I strongly reccomend not getting it.

I played the beta for awhile. I think I'm going to wait for Horizons. Horizons doesn't look that much better but I'm pretty desperate for a time waster until WoW and/or EQ2 comes out.

FFXI is a horrifying level treadmill that makes EQ's arduous levelling process look like a nascar race.

Actually, EQs levelling rate is pretty fast nowadays. But beside the point, yea.. I wouldn't want to touch this one, not even in beta. You think there's idiots in EQ? Just wait till you try playing with the FF crowd...

Go get Disgaea instead. ;) I promise it will waste a lot of your time, and it's quite likely that you'll not be dissappointed. ;)

I've played UO, EQ, AC, AC2, DAoC, AO, Planetside. I don't think I am going to touch SW:G.
FFIX...to many mixed signals. The good vibes I have heard are peppered with little caveots. So, this too is probably going to suck.

UO was good fun for along while. Eventually, all of the asshole PKers drove me out.
Next, EQ. Love/Hate for for 3 years. I think the game has run it's course with me. Most of my friends have dissappeared, joined other guilds (so they are always busy with them) or quit, or like me, just slowely faded away.

Everything else I tried sucked. If WoW doesn't pan out, I am abandoning the genre!

Battlefield 1942, anyone?

horizons really bored me. I figure I at least owe FFXI a try, Square has usually delivered in the past. Leveling treadmill does sound scary though. We'll see.
