How do you get through the room with the spinning gun and the other little triangle that does the exact opposite of you?

Hafta kill the other one with bombs, while not allowing it to get hit by the cannon. Took around 6 bombs I guess. I was 45 minutes into it then a friend sent me a link that I accidently clicked on and it was all gone!!

Edit2: Beat it with 20% health, no lives, and 211 coins. Pretty cool.
