First Manson concert for me, started late as concerts normally do, got my ticket...got fucked with balcony seating. So i found my seat and waited...concert was due to start at 8, bout 8:30 opener band came on...at first i thought they were some joke manson was playing on the crowd....they weren't. The band was called S.T.U.N. and had some retarded political message that they delivered in craptactular punk/rock sound that actually made me plug my ears. By their 3rd song most of the crowd had at least one middle finger up...end of 3rd song sounded like they were done...but when they started up again they got TPed from about 4 different directions and people starting throwing anything they could find at them. End of 4th song everyone was throwing shit, yelling shit, and half the crowd was boo-ing while the other half was screaming shit about manson. S.TU.N. litterally dropped their guitars, they microphone, and drumsticks and moped offstage...receiving the biggest cheer they have probably ever gotten (note to up and coming bands: don't try to open at a manson concert). They were done by about 9pm and then we had a half hour wait while manson got set up and had some tech difficulties with his guitarists amp. During this time a group of people on the balcony and a group of people on the floor started throwing shit and insults at each other bringing some police in the haul their asses out. Shortly after manson came on...
Really cool into, couldn't see him at all at first but he was sitting on this suspended chair that was right behind a wall of light going, so it was kinda weird when you see everyone else and then arms and a face stick through this wall of light about 20ft off the stage. Then it lowered him, started with "new sh!t", went on to vary between old and new songs. His guy who does electronic effects had a key board that was mounted on this motorized flexable tube thing and while he was not playing it the key board was swinging all over the place. Bout 1/3 of the way through i went to a corner of the balcony were there was no one right underneath on the floor and dropped off, my heel is still sore but it was worth it. Not too much that was bizarre took place till he did his own little rendition of "Sweet Dreams", during which his showgirls from mObscene came out and fingered themselves and eachother while dancing or gyrating, etc. then it got a little strange... the 2 girls were up in front on there tear-shaped boxes manson use to put his feet up on, one of the girls went to all fours and stuck her ass in the air, so manson shoved the mic in her and proceeded to sing the rest of the song from there...
Other interesting tidbits in no particular order: manson plays saxaphone...sort of, bassist used and accoustic bass for "golden age of grotesque", the band costumes weren't too impressive...they looked cool wearing liek black button up shirts and black slacks...but nothing too impressive, manson had a long coat on to start and ended up in pants with suspenders...no shirt, for the last 3 songs he had the mickey-mouse ears on again, the showgirls were wearing these 2 piece things that appeared to be rubber that was molded to their bodies with the nipples painted on or something with crotchless panties on, later on some guy almost hit manson with a roll of TP and the crowd promtly beat the shit out of him, and at 2 different times manson thanked to minneapolis/st. paul area for keeping him out of jail, and then made some comment about trying really hard not to fuck the security guy's head at the moment, but he doesn't think the jail time would be worth it, then proceeded to say, "I personally would have no problem fucking you head right now, so step off motherfucka" Finished with "Beatiful People", favorite song of mine so that was a fun mosh, and that was about it, not too much else stuck out in my mind, very impressive lighting and smoke effects, ears are still ringing this morning, but those are kind of a given for manson. Overall 1-10, i give it a 9.8, vocals were a little drowned out at some points and being stuck in the damned blacony for the begining sucked, i also think people should give him shit for picking up the worst band ever to open for him. Next time he's in town im going again though, and if anything new happens i'll let everyone know.
