On a related note...in the video game section here there is a thread called EQ2 Slippage. If you want to know about that game, I've been compiling everything I find about EQ2 there, often with a link to the source (interview or post by a SoE employee).
If you want screenshots of EQ2 you need to go HERE
But here is something from EQ2 to wet your appetite.

Someone on the FoH boards called the toons "creepy mannaquins" and that sums up my feelings very well. I have no desire to play with Real Dolls(TM).
IMO, the only thing that could ruin WoW is the Blizzard fanbois. Hopefully the montly fee will scare most of them away.

Which game are you referring to? EQ? I agree with you there... very creepy.masteen wrote:Someone on the FoH boards called the toons "creepy mannaquins" and that sums up my feelings very well. I have no desire to play with Real Dolls(TM).
I had visited one of the Blizzard MB's about a year ago, and a lot of the Blizzard gamers were bitching about paying a monthly fee. So, hopefully most of them just won't play.IMO, the only thing that could ruin WoW is the Blizzard fanbois. Hopefully the montly fee will scare most of them away
Pils, this is a WoW thread. Keep the EQ2 stuff out. Thanks.

The site I visit regularly for WoW info is:
http://www.world-of-warcraft.org/index.php
Has a lot of screenshots as well as the Warcraft History (which I am reading... I never played any of the Warcraft games before).

the one thing i don't know if i will like is good/evil not being able to group or communicate in-game (if this isn't the case, please say so - I read it in a dev Q&A). I'd like to group w/my friends whenever I want, but I see this really getting in the way. Of course I have no experience with games like Anarchy Online, DAOC, or SWG so I don't know how much it will really matter.

From what I understand, you will be able to group, but you won't be able to communicate very well. I guess until you learn each other's language. That's what I thought anyways.Sartori wrote:the one thing i don't know if i will like is good/evil not being able to group or communicate in-game (if this isn't the case, please say so - I read it in a dev Q&A). If someone know different, let us know!
I'm more for the Alliance races, but I think my fiance and his friends would most likely go the Horde route

This is Blizzard we are talking about here! Automatically tack on 6 months - 1 year to all dates they give.Legenae wrote:Beta is supposed to start the 4th quarter of 2003... and well... we are in 4th quarter 2003. Don't count on it. Blizzard is very big on the whole Horde vs. Alliance thing.Legenae wrote:Well that just sucks.Dregor Thule wrote:As far as I've understood, no, you cannot group cross-alliances.I hope they change that.

Are they going to do this the way of DAoC where you try to get points for your "team" and set it up so that it's basically a PvP game? From the Blizzard faq, the info that they have so far doesn't suggest this, yet people seem to think that's what the game will be.masteen wrote:Don't count on it. I understand that Horde can't group with Alliance, but will they make us have to create a new character of the opposite faction on a different server a-la DAoC?

Well, since there aren't Relic keeps in designated frontier areas, I don't see Blizzard doing anything stupid like DAoC did. In fact, in some of the vids from E3 and other fansites, the character select screen has orcs, night elfs, tauren, humans all on the same account. I know it's beta, but as the magic 8-ball sez: Probably not!
