Heavier Things - John Mayer

John Mayer is one of my favorite artists.

His new album Heavier Things, is verah verah goog. He seems to have 'grown up' if you only compare it to Room for Squares album. (if you get the change, try to get some of his live/older stuff online - it's incredible). The new album doesn't have that much acoustic work, but reminds me a bit of old sting and police.

Very good sophomore album.

I happen to like John Mayer. But then his music has deeper meaning to me due to life events. Hopefully picking up Heavier Things on my way out today.

There's nothing terribly wrong with the 10 songs that make up Heavier Things -- other than the fact there's nothing here that even remotely carries any weight or power.

It all just kind of strolls nondescriptly and nonchalantly in one ear and out the other, barely registering, certainly stirring nothing inside that could be called a strong feeling -- positive or negative.

It's just there, barely, doing its job by providing white noise for middle-aged, middle-class office managers when they're at work or fondueing with old friends.

In other words, dulling down the world one dinner party at a time.

Fait accompli.

I still wish that John Mayer would die in a fire.

I suppose I wouldn't mind him being hit by a bus either.
