I fried my motherboard and chip this weekend. I need to get a new setup and was wondering what is good out there. I am planning on an AMD chip around 2.4 gig and I plan on putting this in a Thermaltake Xaser II case. My fried board is an Asus A7V333 Via chipset and did pretty well up until now and it probally would have been good for a while if I hadn't broke it. The board didn't seem to do so well in the case I have for it though. So, any suggestions or recommendations on a MB? Thanks.

ASUS A7N8X (delux) or the generic version A7N8X. only diff between the 2 being the onboard sound and and extra onboard lan connector. There may be a few other little extras I forget. Its an outstanding board.

Winnow put up some information on this thread about how you can get 3.2Ghz P4 performance from a specific motherboard and 2.4 P4 combo. If you're down with OC, you might want to check it out.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

I highly recommend Epox Athlon motherboards. I got the EP-8RDA+ board and I like it a lot. The nForce chipset is the best you can get for AMDs right now, plus the board has excellent on board LAN and sound and 8x AGP. This board lets you time the memory independently from the CPU, a real plus if you use PC3200 memory with a 333 FSB CPU (like me)

I got my board from Newegg for around $85 a couple months ago. I don't think they have them in stock atm though. Mwave.com has this board for $73.14 plus $9 shipping per Pricewatch.

Whatever you choose, good luck!

Epox ep 8rda+
Asus A7N8X

AthlonMB.com has some very good reveiws on MBs.
A7N8X
EP-8RDA+

Both boards are very close in performance with the Asus alittle ahead overall but not enough to really notice.

The EP-8RDA3+ runs $111.00 at New Egg (same mb basicly as the EP-8RDA+ just newer layout)

The A7N8X runs $94.00 and the Delux runs $124.00 at New Egg.

I just bought a Biostar M7VIT and a XP 2500+ Barton last week. Runs really nice. Much larger improvement over my 1600+ than I thought it'd be.

Was kind of miffed when I saw I had to upgrade my RAM as well to make it run full speed. I had hoped to keep my PC2100 in there for a bit.

I have the board Denadeb has. I haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks all. I went with the A7N8X and a XP 2700 combo for $215 off of Pricewatch.
