I have used Winamp since long before MP3's were even "known" to the common person basically. I have never had any registry problems or any other types of problems with the program, and I HATE WMP. I refuse to use it for anything. The only problem I can see with WMP and Winamp going on the same system might be if the Winamp Agent is active. That can cause some problems with the WMP from what I have read.

I use both interchangably on my systems and really the only problem I have is when I accidentally make the wrong one associated with mp3 files. I prefer WMP for video, and WinAmp for audio. It's really just a matter of personal preference, they'll both do about the same thing for you.

I have upgraded to Winamp3.x using the MMD3 Skin. It works great. I think the only times I have had problems were early on after it was released. There was a fix on the forums before the prog was upgraded. You could reproduce the errors through screwing with playlists and those files ON the playlist on your HD. Made it so you couldn't even BOOT Winamp....must say though, Winamp has come a LONG ass way.

Well, I don't use the "Thingee" which I think they call it. Occasionally I will leave the "all mp3's" playlist going with one of the synch'd graphics going fullscreen. Overall, I think that 2.x was just fine. 3.x hasn't been a problem other than the things I think I mentioned regarding playlist problems, and also the video player in it is basically crap.
