It's obvious which game system is the best to buy...PS2 because of the amount of games and units out there it's like buying a PC over a mac.

But for a second system what system would you get?

I personally got an Xbox because the games seemed more mature. But I know a lot got GameCube....vote and explain why if possible.

I'd rank Xbox or GC above a PS2, but that's just my preference.

I'd have to say Xbox is the best, just due to what you can do with it. I recently (with pyrella's help - thanks py!) modded my xbox to run a version of linux on it. Since i did that, I've been using it a whole lot more than I ever did before. The 'PS2 has more games' reasoning is getting a bit stale too, because more and more titles are coming out for the Xbox every week.

GameCube is a very nice system as well, especially for the price. There are some games on it that make it worth buying just to play those game.

I never owned a PSX, which is probably why I never had a PS2 either. Sure, there are a lot of games for it.. but not many that really interest me other than DDR. Even that is coming out for the Xbox soon, so I don't really have much reason to invest in a PS2. I'll just play someone elses. =)

Best I remember, there is a linux kit for the PS2, that's actually produced by sony and such.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that I have no idea if it does the same thing as your mod'd xbox.

As for the poll, I dunno. I like the games that GC has been putting out. And xbox has those few titles you can't get anywhere else. But I only own a ps2

i like xbox a lot better then PS2

if i want a good RPG or RPS, il get a pc game

if i want a fun fighting game, shooting game, etc il get it on Xbox...if theres a game for PS2 and Xbox, the Xbox version is better

I just knew PS2 would win...and I didn't want to see that, I wanted to see how xbox spars with gamecube. And if I put PS2 as an option, I'd never get my answer.

What is DDR Xou? You speak as if it's a game...but I can't think of what it's an abbreviation for.

As for the gamecube...I think Metroid prime was decent, and Zelda windwalker or whatever warrants a look, and final fantasy crystal chronicles is due out soon....but most of what I see is yoshi or mario. Scrimpy bought a gamecube, so I'll probably borrow it from him sometime soon, he has zelda.

I just got DOA volleyball, but I have to get my xbox back from Claritin before I can tryit out, I lent it to him so he could beat knights of the old republic, luckily he is on the soul forge now so I'll get it back soon.

Xbox does have the better console, Xbox = 733Mhz Nvidia, GC=485Mhz, PS2=300Mhz. And Xbox has the hard drive....which I think was a wise move compared to the dinky memory cards.

However I don't doubt for a minute that a PS3 isn't on the way with a hard drive...as a matter of fact I think I read the other day that Final Fantasy XI (the on-line MMORPG due out soon) requires not only the network card, and USB keyboard, but also a hard drive? So I guess there is already a PS2 hard drive add-on.

I also read somewhere that Microsoft refuses to put out a keyboard for the Xbox. And I think if they don't change thier stance on that that it's going to hurt them in the long run as even consoles are heading towards on-line gaming and you need a way to communicate with other players. When I played EQOA beta it was a royal pain without a keyboard, so much so that I went out and bought a keyboard the next day. You just can't effectively communicate when your inputing letters with a gamepad, it takes 20 mins to type a sentence. Speaking of which if that is true...how the hell did you get linux on it?

Now I read the FAQ about modding a Xbox, did you find it hard to do Xou? Also what are you running on it with Linux? What else can you do? Running "back-up copies" of games is an option right? I don't know if I'd want to use those emulators and such....

I have to say XBox because of the games available for it, but I prefer the gamecube (personally) over it. Size is part of that issue, I also loathe the Box controlls.

I don't know how it got there, I don't even read retard forum and I posted this message after reading some other video game threads. I fully intended to place it in this forum.

Oh well....maybe another admin moved it there before xou moved it here. Or maybe I am actually a retard and put it there myself somehow, the world will never know.
