Mint Juleps

Ingredients:

Water
Sugar
Fresh Peppermint
Kentucky Bourbon
Crushed Ice
Six ounce glasses (preferably pewter cups)
A Walker Percy novel (Faulkner substitutes nicely)...
Porch Swing

Instructions:

Ok...Quick and easy...In a mixing glass, mull (mash thoroughly) a sprig of peppermint and cover with 1 and 1/2 oz of bourbon...Fill a glass pitcher with 32 oz of water...Add sugar 1/4 cup at a time stirring constantly to dissolve it...When the sugar stops dissolving, taste the mixture...It should be extremely sweet, if not, keep stirring and adding until it is...

Now...Add 4 oz of this syrup to the Bourbon and mint sprig and shake well...

Fill the serving glass...With crushed ice...Strain the mixture from the mixing glass, down the side of the serving glass...Garnish with a sprig of mint...

All finished...Get on the porch swing...Open that novel...Put your feet up and unwind...
