Those pictures always look cool.

What I noticed was how people in New York started comparing the blackouts to 9/11.

How is a blackout similiar to a terrorist attack involving four seperate hijacked planes crashing into various symbolic pillars of american life causing the tragic deaths of thousands of innocent people? YOU FUCKING ATTENTION WHORING RETARDS

Bastards the lot.

Considering that new yorkers actually have a point of reference to what 9/11 was like and you do not, you should hold your tongue.

The experience both days to a lot of employees in manhattan were as follows:

-you couldn't get on or off the island
-you couldn't use your cell phones
-police were directing whatever traffic there was
-all mass transit was shut down save for the ferrys
-it was a hot sunny day
-you had to walk a few miles to get where you wanted to go
-people were trying to get information as much as possible by listening to the radio on cars or transistor radios

As someone who was three blocks away from the events on 9/11, I can attest to what they were feeling.
It was not attention whoring, you just have no fucking clue what it was really like either day so you have zero point of reference.

After 911, if I was in NY and in a skyscraper or stuck in an elevator, I would certainly be thinking about 911 and wondering what was going on.

I wouldn't call New Yorkers attention whores. I'd say that experiencing 9-11 had the effect of keeping the city amazingly calm during a major blackout.

Actually Chidoro whoeverthefuckyouare, it was a couple of people being interviewed on the news that were, in fact, attention whoring quite openly simply to get on tv. Since you failed to see that, I suggest you shut the fuck up!

Also, from the outside of your retarded little fishbowl nation, you are often percieved as being attention whoring, over dramatic brain redundants.

Now, as a disclaimer, I don't think all of you are, far from it, I respect a number of people on this board who are American citizens.

In respects to your points, that's legitimate, sort of.....my points still stand. I suppose it just gets tiring having to listen to Americans constantly making themselves out to be heroic and/or under such extreme pressure from 'Terror'. Nice little leash Bush has got you on there.

I wasn't sitting in a fucking high school class jerking off while staring at the girl's ass in front of me when it was happening, I happened to be one the the few thousand people RUNNING FROM THE WALL OF DERBIS. I listed seven concrete reasons why the days felt similar and you watched the evening news. Good fucking going simpleton.

You have absolutely NO perspective.

Fucking idiot.

What does Bush have to do with anything either genius? I mean that was one gem of a statement so I'd be interested seeing what retarded reasoning you can think of for that.

Teeny.
Just stfu now and save yourself some grief.

Yes, there ARE people who will try and get on TV because they are attention whores. Like the Texas democrats that keep running out of state, the entire cast of Who Wants to Mary A Millionare, and the _random_most_redneck_person_in_50_miles they always find when there's a news story about West Virginia.

Hell, there are attention whores on these boards. Searyx.. Aaeamdar.. Cartalas.. does this fact greatly surprise you?

Chid was there. He knows. Suck it up and bugger off.

Considering the rest of the world probably knew more about what was happening during the blackout than the NY'ers I can understand the reaction.

Kind of funny how local TV kept broadcasting. Bet their ratings sucked ;).

Lol, you're right. Everyone that could watch the blackout info wasn't effected obviously. So when the news gives SUPER LIFE-SAVING INFORMATION, the people lucky enough to have someone paying attention to the grid in their area are now better people for knowing

Yes, that would probably be a knee jerk reaction from having to listen to all the whiny ass U.S citizens moaning on and on and on with their uneducated unwanted views of the world.

Personally, it's a fucking wonder to me that there haven't been more terror related attacks on the U.S, do you peons even know what suffering you cause indirectly around the world on a day to day basis?

Btw, I don't hate all Americans, just a lot of your countries stances on various treaties/human rights issues etc. Plus the fact that so many of you believe everything the U.S media feeds you; which causes, on occasion, some of you to remove whatever McFatfuck burger you're eating from your mouth and let everyone else in the world know what you think about whatever lie you have been fed.

Yeah, this is an agressive post, I admit that but some of you (NOT ALL) probably fit into the demographic I am talking about.

Newsflash Chid, no one outside the US gives a flying fuck about 9/11 anymore. It's a huge assumption on your part to expect us to care.

Edit: Also, this is to deliberatly incite a bit of life into this forum, you fuckers have gone soft.

Maybe not you Sionistic, I didn't claim every single one of you did. Whether you like it or not, that is the distinct impression you (as a nation) give off. To the 'outside' world.

Edit: Again, even though you ignored the UN and went with the 'coalition' to Iraq, you give off an arrogant stink. We all noticed the stink after you stopped getting everything your own way. I.E the sympathy stopped^^

Oh and by the way, if you can seperate yourself from your country you might realise where I am coming from. Even just a little bit.

I got news for you bud. The world changed on 9/11 whether you like it or not.

Take your sympathy and stuff it all the way up in your ass. We will deal with our problems on our own, then we will come help your fucking guvmint out when you whine about some agressor or other.

That's good to hear. At least I know where you're coming from. As someone who lost friends, friends who lost family, myself who lost my mode to go to work, and everyone who lost two pillars (yes they were ugly, so what) of strength to support the financial district's (financial to the world mind you, not just the US) skyline, I'd say I was not alone in being effected. Just because you're too immature to understand what people felt, doesn't mean that's the way the world thinks.

You were a child when it happened. You're a child now. Grow up.

Again, I point to the reasons why the days felt similar and since I was there, I should know. Since you weren't, you don't.

You've got a funny way of championing the dead.

The world didn't change after 9/11.

The US just had something new to be afraid of. Since the communist threat disappeared there had been a void. You all thrive off this stuff.

The war on drugs wasn't cutting it because well too many people like drugs and drugs really aren't scary...not even the fried egg commercial cut it. But it did give you open endedness which was adopted to the war on terror...brrr be afraid.

Personally I think the war on terror should be expanded to crush all horror movies, loud noises and those pesky people that get kicks from sneaking up behind you and saying "boo".

Chid, please, don't insult my intelligence.

I am fully aware of the people affected by this great tragedy...I just don't see how they are any more important than all of the people who have suffered as a direct result of YOUR countries actions.

Is it because they are U.S citizens? If so, then it's your perspective that is fucked, not mine.

Your reasons for the days being similiar are a bit contrite.

Let me break it down for you bud.
-you couldn't get on or off the island
Ok......sounds like your average rush hour, should we compare that to 9/11?
-you couldn't use your cell phones
So when I go out of range from the nearest cellphone mast I should compare it to 9/11?
-police were directing whatever traffic there was
Sounds like a fairly normal representation of various towns/cities worldwide. Should we compare police men directing traffic to 9/11?
-all mass transit was shut down save for the ferrys
Some countries don't even have ferries. You heartless bastard. :P
-it was a hot sunny day
So if I fall and hurt my arm on a sunny day I should compare it to 9/11?
-you had to walk a few miles to get where you wanted to go
Wow, people had to walk? Shit man, that is sooooooo like 9/11.
-people were trying to get information as much as possible by listening to the radio on cars or transistor radios
People were trying to get information. Listening to radios!!! Thats unbelievable, reminds me of 9/11.

Badibadi, if you expect me to care in the least what your opinion on the matter is, you are wrong. DUEL TO THE DEALTH!!!!!!

Fallanthas, yes the world changed on 9/11. The world is in a constant state of change, or didn't you realise? Also, the main reason it has changed is that the U.S government is now prepared to loudmouth it's own issues over all other countries whether they're important or not.

Please, by all means, deal with it yourselves, it's your mess after all.

What you cretins fail to realise is that you aren't more important than everyone else. You are believing your own hype. This is what makes people become stupid.

Remember, I have lived my entire life under a percieved threat of 'terror' from the IRA, Continuity IRA, Provisional IRA, Red Hand Commandoes, UVF, UDA, UFF, INLA, LVF etc etc.

Seeing how retards jumped on the fear of terror bandwagon your government fed you was laughable. Try a 30 year campaign of bombing/shooting/torturing/rioting/kidnapping etc and I may start giving a shit about your narrow minded viewpoints.

Well, while I am not about to call Chidoro a fraction of what you did Teeny, I will agree with you.

Unfortunately, citizens of the United States (myself included in this) are fucking lazy. We are lazy, and fucking pathetic. Now I know many of you will say again "Look what we have done in the last 200 some-odd years!" and I agree, America's progress was amazing from a historical point of view.

However, you also need to realize that we did not start from scratch. We took from England, and started with them, then fractured and made ourselves independent. Also, while it is nice that we fought in WW2 once we were pushed into it after millions had lost their lives to a regime that had a fucking embassy in New York City, and the industrial revolution was teh win and all, but what right do any of you have to use that?

Seriously, what the fuck have you or your generation done that affected whole scale the world or even our society? What great massive breakthroughs have we made in the last twenty some odd years?

You see, this is where it comes back to us being lazy. We are content to ride on the reputations and bone grinding work of our fore-fathers, drifting comfortably on their coattails and trying to act like "WE" had anything to do with it. I do not collect royalties for being a descendant of Louis Pasteur for every gallon of milk that goes out, and I don't expect all Latinos to gang punk my ass because I am a descendant of Hernan Cortez either.

Frankly, the reason why many disdain America is because our generation really hasn't done shit except screw things up. Teeny, any of this close to what you were attempting to say?

However, on another note, I feel nothing for sympathy for the people of New York for enduring perhaps the most devestating attack in this century to happen on our soil.

Teeny, 9-11 is a sensative issue. I would advise now with my above comment that you swiftly remove that subject from your thoughts. It would kinda be like me saying "You fucking Irish are all cry-babies and drama queens, with your IRA and noblity choking you blah blah blah".

Of course, I would never go there.

What are you agreeing with? It doesn't sound like your are agreeing with anything he said with regards to what I was contesting.

He said NY was playing up the blackout to 9-11. After explaining why this was done he attempted to contest the reasons with nonsensical replies. I wouldn't expect any more from someone who is half my age and even less of my life experiences. Therefore, I'm assuming he's just trying to get a rise.

You were going off on a completely different tangent that has nothing to do w/ what I was talking about

If you refer back to Teenybloke's last post before you two got into the "spatting" as I call it, and reference my arguements while considering the info there, it will make a deal more since.

I will summarize though:

a) Americans of the modern day are lazy, and really have no right to say what we have done, because we have done shit worth mentioning.

b) Foreigners, stfu about 911, and New York unless it is something good or uplifting.

As to the blackouts....

No-one cares if your lights and AC went off. You are not French, so you will likely live ;)

EDIT: You are right, it has little to do with the topic until people started deviating, at which time I stepped up.

I keep with my blackout commentary though.

Chidoro, unless you are capable of keeping up with posts, I suggest you stop posting, close the computer, walk out the door and straight to the nearest highway and indulge in a spot of 'dodge the area between cars'

Stop going on and on about your age, you pathetic old fart.

Acies, yes, well done my friend you hit the nail on the head. I wasn't talking a different language after all. Perhaps If I had written it in ebonics Chidoro would have understood it better.

I know 9/11 is a sensitive issue for you guys. That is why I am going out of my way to show how little everyone else cares. You guys have to live in the real world. It was an event that happened, get over it and stop riding on it's coat tails.

Acies, regarding 'us Irish' being drama queens, we aren't the ones forcing our agenda down the rest of the worlds throat. I was posting my thoughts about the IRA etc solely to put your SINGLE attack in perspective.

Much <3 to you all. Even you Chidoro.
