Schwarzenegger to run for Governer

Post by Winnow »

I'd vote for him!

Just heard him speak about it. He didn't sound too bad. Mentioned that he had plenty of money so he won't be corrupt. His last words after the last reporter question was, "I'll be back"

One of his lines was "I don't care about anything" hehe, he needs some polishing.

Yeah.. but if he takes over California, he's just a few short steps away from taking over the Skynet base in nevada.. and from there, Judgement Day..

Aside from Arnold being the only one capable of slowing the Rise of The Machines... he was well-spoken and seems to really want to give it a whirl.

Thank god he is a republican--fucking liberals have driven this state into the ground.

This is going to be the biggest circus in history, prepare for MANY MANY recalls in California, our voter turnout SUCKS, gathering the necessary signatures is a walk in the park. Now on to the election, The Elephants are going to feild around 6 people, 3 of which will be reasonably strong enough to win, if the Donkeys stick to their guns and just run Davis, Davis will win again, simply because the Elephants will split their vote.

I agree with most of Arnold's views and generally like the guy (yeah, I'm a Republican), but I still think the governor of one of the states in the US should have some experience in public service. That's a big leap from managing your own finances and life to managing an entire state. I just think he's setting himself up for failure. I may be underestimating him though.

That being said, I'd vote for him over the other folks I've seen if I was unfortunate enough to live in California.

heh

if Reagan can do it.......

Does this mean in a few years we will see Arnold for Prez?

(though, isn't he a naturalized citizen? or was he dual? I can't remember, and for some reason, the citizenship requirements for president escape me. :( )

I think he's gonna win it.... hands down. He's a liberal republican.... but we sure as fuck can't do any worse. If anything, he's gonna stir shit up. Atleast he's come out and said something, has 1 fucking person running commented on ANY ISSUES? Nope.

All the dems in Sac are gonna be LF new jobs, and that is enough for me. Arnold is a damn good businessman and Cali is the 7th largest economy in the world.... Im tired of 90 year old windbags and I think this will be good for the state. If nothing else, like I said...to stir shit up in Sacramento.I am waiting to hear his views on some key things... but so far, he is the lesser of all evils.

Arnold is only truly conservative in regards to economic views. Go figure, he is rich. The rest of his views are sure to infuriate the far right.

On a side note.... 2 extreme lefties in my office here are saying they will be voting for Arnold. Because of the business views alone. It's going to be an interesting 2 months.

I think it will be amusing cos Arnold isn't very PC or tactful and is prone to putting his foot in it.
It'll be fun watching the difference between the press reaction to any gaffes and that of the electorate.
Especially from this nice, safe distance ;)

And besides when Dutch and Blaine are in office surely you can sort out jobs for Billy, Poncho, Dylan, Mack and the rest of the guys and then we can get some minigun action going on in various political assemblies. Oh yes.

I would vote for Larry Flynt. Yes, he's running too ya know. California is a goddamn joke. You think you had problems before? Now that the voters know how easy it is, they will be pulling this shit every year. How embarrassing. Don't forget it was the Republicans that de-regulated the untility companies. You know, the main reason California is up to it's ass in debt to begin with.

I don't know enough about Conan's political platform to really make an informed decision at this time. I'll get back to you later on that one.

Actually, it isn't an easy process to recall and requires a ton of cash. Estimates on the cost to the taxpayers is anywhere between 30-60 million at this point. Also, being able to actually get ~1 million registered voters pissed at you enough to actually go out of their way to sign a petition to boot your ass takes a lot. Joe "Gray" Davis was just fortunate to be that inept and dishonest.

They only need 850,000. That's not many. On The Man Show, they got plenty of random petitions to end Woman's Suffrage. People will sign fucking anything.

I'd vote for him. If he needs any political advice he just needs to call one of his in-laws.
He's probably been around them enough to learn a few things, and there's been talk of him running for public office for years and years.

They only needed 850k signatures to recall but they got 1.6million. That is a lot fo freaking work. Dems and Republicans are all corrupt. If I lived in Cali I would vote for Arnold.

To the guy above who said he should have public experience first. Look what the politicians with all that experience have done so far. It is time for some serious changes all over the country.

You need 850K valid signatures. That is different from just 850K signatures. All of them need to be registered voters and have signed the petition within the county they are reguistered in. The forms they sign also have to be approved. I believe one mistake on those forms has the possibility of invalidating the entire form and the signatures on it. There was a reason they got so many signatures.

Also coupled with this was the nice underhanded tactics Davis used. He had signature collectors out as well collecting signatures for the recall but in favor of not having a recall. However this led to some confusion for some people thinking they already signed the recall petition and not just the anti-recall petition.

Does this mean in a few years we will see Arnold for Prez?

Anyone remember the movie Demolition Man? The Stallone/Snipes futuristic cop movie? (Sandra Bullocks greatest performance due to the skin tight cops uniform she wore)

They had Arnold as president in that film. Or maybe a past president, dont remember for sure. The constitution was amended to allow him to run.

Arnold has always been my hero. The movie "Pumping Iron" is such a great film that is filled with some of the funniest quotes... here are some quotes from and about Arnold.
Arnold, Pumping Iron wrote:It is as satisfying to me as coming is - you know, as having sex with a woman and coming. So can you believe how much I am in heaven? I am, like, getting the feeling of coming in the gym. I'm getting the feeling of coming at home. I'm getting the feeling of coming backstage when I pump up.When I pose out in front of 5.000 people I get the same feeling. So I'm coming day and night.
Arnold wrote:I knew I was a winner back in the late sixties. I knew I was destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally immodest. I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me in any way - I hope it never will.
Arnold on his 50th birthday wrote:This is the worst birthday ever, because one third of my life has gone.
Maria Shriver (to Ted Kennedy) wrote:Don't think of him as a Republican. Think of him as the man I love, and if that doesn't work, think of him as the man who can crush you.
I'd vote for Arnold in a heartbeat, too bad I don't live in Cali.

Davis should see the writting on the wall, and resign. That way, the govenorship goes to the Lt. Govenor, and Ca. remains in democratic hands AND we save $30m in recall vote costs.

I am not sure he can do that at this point. I think the recall election would still happen. On the other hand, if he could just resign, I think you would still have a huge push to have the recall go forward. As far as the public is concerned, all of them need to be replaced.

Just to give you an example, 850,000 people is only slightly more then the population of San Jose, it is not going to be hard to get the signatures required for a recall as long as our voter turnout sucks ass. Recalls will be common so long as they don't get smacked down by the supreme court (this one has already taken heavy blows and may never actually happen, but with the way the judicial system works this one will probably go thru before the courts ever decide on it). This is an interesting case, it'll be fun to watch. BTW, I'll be voting for Huffington :P
