Fantastic Four

Post by Sylvus »

I hope I'm not divulging any information that is too premature or could get anyone in trouble, but I spent the weekend with my cousin who just began working on the Fantastic Four comic, and he said that the reason he was brought in was to make the book's story fit more with the working script they have for the movie. It's set to be released around year-end 2004.

After seeing what they have done with the X-men movies, I'm pretty excited about what the Fantastic Four could turn out to be. I'm not sure if he already knew the basic plot of the movie, but I did hear the name Dr. Doom mentioned in our conversation, which could make for a cool movie villain.

Also, if anyone is interested in checking out my cousin at the helm of FF, his first issue should be coming out in February. He took headshots (profiles even) of my brother and I, and said he'd include us as mafia henchmen or wherever he thought we'd best fit, so that'll be pretty cool if it happens. :)

That sounds cool. I've never been overly fond of FF, but I do like the idea of Dr Doom as a villain.

I'll try to check out the issue when it comes out. :)
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

Yeah, I was never a huge FF fan myself, but I think it has the potential to be a really cool film to watch, if only for the effects. My cousin was saying it'd probably be easier to make The Thing look even better than Hulk did as there is a lot more potential with textures to actually look like rock than with trying to make green skin. Mr. Fantastic should be pretty decent, as James Cameron did stuff like stretching limbs over 10 years ago with the Abyss and T2. The Human Torch and the Inivisble Girl also seem like decent opportunities for awesome effects.

I'm probably not the best judge though, as I am relatively easily entertained and I'll defintely go see any movie with the Marvel Studios logo on it.

Im an Avengers fan but FF was my second favorite group from Marvel until I sold out and went Uncanny X-Men. I liked FF's HQ building. The Thing, while a tough guy, always got his ass kicked it seemed. The group was too heavily reliant on Reed Richards smarts and John Byrne kind of screwed things up when he made Reed RIchards and Invisible woman's son so whacked out.

The group I didn't get into from Marvel was the Defenders.

Hey Sylvus, if you do get cartoonized in an FF issue, you should scan your head and make it your avatar : )

Sylvus, PM me the name of your friend. I'm curious because I have friends in the comic industry here in Michigan as well. Chances are, they know each other. Aaron Warner is one of my really good friends. He did the Adventures of Aaron and some books for Image. You may have heard of him if you're a Michigan native.

Oh yeah, I was in a Swank cartoon :)
