I saw the deluxe edition of Medal of Honor for $30 bucks the other day and bought it on a whim.
It's a WWII game from a infantryman's perspective using the quake III engine.
I'll tell you this much, I'd spend $30 just for the soundtrack on that game. (comes with the kit.)
Imagine Band of Brothers, and Saving Private Ryan smeared together with a lump of Halflife interaction.
The game felt dirty and gritty. It was dark and immersive. It makes you feel like you're there. Everything these guys did was with painstaking effort to be realistic to the time period.
It seemed like the designers really put their heart into making a game that draws you in.
I loved it. I can't wait for the next one they do based on the pacific theater.
Best game I've bought in 5 years.

That's because Steven Spielberg had a hand in making all three!Adex_Xeda wrote:Imagine Band of Brothers, and Saving Private Ryan smeared together with a lump of Halflife interaction.

The movement was mediocre at best, the ending was one of the worst I've seen in a FPS game, and the battles/villages chosen were good, but the way the NPCs popped out of literally nowhere (even if you knew where they were they were always getting the shot off first) was fucking annoying. After playing it, I remember thinking that RtCW was a much better game, but should have omitted anything having to do with the undead. The story in MoH was much better, but the graphics, engine, and 'feel' of the game were inferior to RtCW in every way.
The Normandy invasion scene was nothing more than creative plagiarism of the beginning of the 'Saving Private Ryan' movie. Thanks for the recommendation for a game I beat a year ago.

Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.
ouch
i think you singed my eyebrows with that one, Ara.
Anyways, my favorite WW2 games are Day of Defeat and Battlefield 1942, both online. If I feel like some intense, quick, in-your-face, urban combat I play DoD. Otherwise, I'm usually playing 1942.
Battlefield: Vietnam is really intriguing to me! If they don't do it I sure hope someone can pull off a decent game in that genre (isn't the MoH team doing one?)

I have a gaming mag at home that has War games as it's main feature. It has about 6 pages, 3-4 games per page of nothing but War Games, with WWII being the dominant theme.
There is going to be a 1942 expansion for Vietnam, the Gulf War, as well as the Secret Weapons of WWII expansion.
Medal of Honor gets Red Sun Rising (which looks awsome) and at least one or 2 more. I remember I was kinda taken by surprise at all those MoH expansions...
I really enjoyed Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Check that one out too. It's more Quake than MoH, but the graphics are great and the gameplay is very fun. I bet it's rather cheap now too. Did they make an expansion for that too? I forget...
I'll grab that mag when I get hme and post some of the others they list.

Good luck with the Knights of Arnhem stage. (its level 7 i believe) That is the only severely challenging point of the game, and it is roughly 3/4 into the game. That level alone will have you playing for hours on end trying to fucking beat it. And anyone who has beat it in less than 10 tries plays it on easy.
