Sorry, but it was pretty much our last option. Saved the other database but it was very corrupt and the repair deleted several users and posts for being too corrupt to fix. We will try and add the posts between the last back up and now - but please don't hold your breath.

As far as VV's for the missing posts - easy come easy go - sorry, but we have enough headaches as is without trying to figure out who to reimburse for what.

Will update more later.

Yes we are back on daily backups as well - it was even scheduled for tonight. Last week when we had the system failure and installed the new OS we didn't have all of our maintenance scripts moved over, they are now.

Problem seems to be that the mysql database froze up while a backup script was running, combined with the hits from people trying to access the site caused the db to incorrectly write back to the tables. According to some searching this is a problem with larger mysql db's and can usually be repaired with mysql's built in repair tool, however as noted above, sometimes you can lose important data - which is what has happened here.
