Well, go figure.

You've also complained that you cannot sort your music by artist (you can). If I spent the time correcting all of your idiotic, ill informed complaints it would be a full time job.

Until Wednesday, you could not sort by album artist unless you use the 'cover flow' view.
Look it up on the apple support forums, there's shitloads of complaints about it.

Feel free to correct me on any of my other complaints.

I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this
I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong.

This is one battle Steve lost. He not only failed to spend the 40 billion but now Apple has 80 billion in the bank, and I'm guessing those record destroying 4 Million 4S iPhones already sold will add to that pile of money. He sure sucked as a CEO!

More up to date?
Apple sold more than 4 million iPhone 4S devices in the first weekend on the market, the company announced Monday.

This is a new record for Apple’s smartphone. It took three weeks for Apple to sell 3 million iPhone 4 units, and it took 74 days to sell the first million units of the original iPhone.

For comparison, Samsung has sold 10 million Galaxy S II smartphones in the first five months on the market.
You should be thanking Steve Jobs' ghost for not spending that 40B to crush Android. Jobs the merciful. (while still doubling Apple's bank)

Samsung has reportedly overtaken Apple in smartphone shipments this past quarter, with inside sources claiming the Korean firm pushed out more than 20m of the devices in Q3 2011. In contrast, Apple confirmed it shipped 17.1m iPhone units in its recent financial results announcement. Samsung does not specify exact smartphone shipment numbers in its quarterly reports, but a WSJ source claims the firm has topped Apple’s performance having already overtaken Nokia.

Proof that black people hate the iPhone and Asians laugh at Android's OS, opting for the solid iOS.

According to the late Reggie White, "The Japanese and other Asians are inventive and can turn a television into a watch."

If they can do that, you should trust their judgment on cell phone OS choices as well!

Not that this detracts from the Android's OS market share, but I wonder how many of those phones are the low feature free ones that providers have been offering. I imagine that broke ass mofos and people who don't give a fuck about smartphones (but won't pass up a free one) don't buy as many apps.

Probably close to the same percentage iphones that are that are 3G or 3GS.
Most providers in Canada offer a cheap ($0-$50) iphone with a contract.
Heck, you can even get an iphone 4 for less than $100.

I finished listening to the Steve Jobs book released recently.

A couple basic things I gleaned from it:

-Steve Jobs was an ass for most of his life. He was driven, etc, but acted like an asshole a most of the time in his business dealings. This isn't much of a surprise but is confirmed in the book from his personal life as well.

-He deserves all the credit he gets for turning around Apple. After listening to all the decision making that was made for the key Apple products, iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, he had a huge part in all of the decisions and also design choices.

-he killed himself by being such a looney vegan. He waited six months after being told that he needed an operation immediately on his pancreas. By the time he got the operation, it had spread. Many people pleaded for him to have the surgery. it's completely his fault. He is the poster child for why being a vegan is not the ultimate solution. He still got cancer, he smelled like shit (constantly mentioned in the book), his vegan lifestyle directly aided in killing him faster. He needed tons of protein after his pancreas surgery and was encouraged to eat more meat.

Overall, he kicked ass as the CEO of Apple after his return but had some serious flaws as a human being.

How Steve Jobs and Apple fared against one of their cocky competitors:
Apple now worth seventeen times Dell’s market value

Monday, March 12, 2012 · 11:27 am · 57 Comments

On October 6, 1997, in response to the question of what he’d do if he was in charge of Apple, Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell stood before a crowd of several thousand IT executives and answered flippantly, “What would I do? I’d shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.”

A little more than a month later, on November 10, 1997, new Apple Interim CEO (iCEO) Steve Jobs responded, speaking in front of an image of Michael Dell’s bulls-eye covered face, “We’re coming after you, you’re in our sights.”

On January 13, 2006, after a little more than eight years of hard work, Apple Inc. passed Dell, Inc. in market value, $72.13 billion vs. $71.97 billion at market close, respectively.

• 2X: On July 27, 2007, Apple’s value doubled that of Dell’s, $127.81 billion vs. $63.65 billion, respectively.

• 3X: On December 6, 2007, Apple’s market value passed 3 times that of Dell’s, $165.66 billion vs. $54.42 billion, respectively.

• 4X: On May 01, 2008, Apple’s market value quadrupled that of Dell’s, $158.66 billion vs. $38.97 billion, respectively.

• 5X: On February 12, 2009, Apple rose $2.60 to hit a market value of $88.37 billion or 5 times that of Dell’s $17.52 billion.

• 6X: On October 20, 2009, Apple rose $11.21 to $201.07 to hit a market value of $180.12 billion or more than 6 times that of Dell’s $29.97 billion.

• 7X: On January 26, 2010, Apple gained $7.57 to $210.64 to hit a market value of $189.72 billion or more than 7 times that of Dell’s current $27.03 billion.

• 8X: On May 21, 2010, Apple gained $1.95 to $239.74 to hit a market value of $218.12 billion or more than 8 times that of Dell’s current $25.84 billion.

• 9X: On June 1, 2010, Apple gained $6.89 to $263.77 to hit a market value of $240.01 billion or more than 9 times that of Dell’s current $26.29 billion.

• 10X: On September 9, 2010, Apple gained $1.60 to $265.37 to hit a market value of $242.43 billion or more than 10 times that of Dell’s current $24.21 billion.

• 11X: On September 23, 2010, Apple rose $3.79, or 1.32%, to $291.54 to hit a market value of $266.34 billion or more than 11 times that of Dell’s current $23.81 billion.

• 12X: On January 27, 2011, Apple rose $0.26, or 0.08%, to $344.11 to hit a market value of $317.02 billion or more than 12 times that of Dell’s current $26.02 billion.

• 13X: On August 26, 2011, Apple rose $9.86, or 2.64%, to $383.58 to hit a market value of $355.61 billion or more than 13 times that of Dell’s current $27.29 billion.

• 14X: On September 20, 2011, Apple rose $1.82, or 0.44%, to $413.45 to hit a market value of $383.31 billion or more than 14 times that of Dell’s current $27.15 billion.

• 15X: On February 15, 2012, Apple rose $14.03, or 2.75%, to $523.49 to hit a market value of $486.78 billion or more than 15 times that of Dell’s current $32.37 billion.

• 16X: On february 29, 2012, Apple rose $8.43, or 1.575%, to $543.84 to hit a market value of $505.75 billion or more than 16 times that of Dell’s current $31.35 billion.

• 17X: Today, March 12, 2012, Apple rose $3.27, or 0.60%, to $548.44 to hit a market value of $512.33 billion or more than 17 times that of Dell’s current $29.94 billion.

Apple is also a debt-free company and currently has well over three times in cash on-hand (now over $100 billion) than Dell Inc. is worth.

Hello, Mikey? Miiikeeey? Got any more snappy retorts?

Jesus got a lot more popular after he croaked, too. Plus Jobs is a role model for greedy self absorbed materialistic hipster douchebags, which makes him the second comming to some of these people.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

You people sound more self righteous with those comments than any Apple fanboi. Apple is the largest, most successful company in the world and sells a bazillion units each year. It's mainstream, there's no cult about it. They just happen to have excellent products and a fuck-ton of money and smarts to stay on top of the future tech game. (Microsoft had the money part but were clueless for years about what to do with it)

I can understand if you like your hipster rebellious Android phones with the crap apps. Apple's making badass products. If you can afford them, I highly recommend their "post-pc" products. iMacs not so much. I'll take the ease of use combined with the best UI and tech over the random product that has a higher processor speed or something else that ends up being meaningless. I don't see it as a bad thing, the same as any other annually released product benefits from competition. Apple could have sat on the iPad 2 design for another year and still crushed the competition. It would be nice to have another company come out with something worth talking about.

If you are in the market for a tablet, iPad is the choice. If you aren't wanting a tablet, then who gives a shit? Get your laptop and wait 2-3 years as business use of tablets quadruples again.

Steve Jobs was a vegan asshole but he kicked ass in his role as CEO. Any thread here (or post) can be skipped!

Sure, the tech is fantastic...however,it is no excuse to provide bundled and/or aftermarket sweatshop cables/adapters. Not to mention all those garbage partner-manufacturer accessories hocked at the Mac stores (those skull headphones...you fucking kidding me?). Crappy cases, bumpers, cables, jacks, etc.

Quality products should be married with quality accessories, and it isn't just an Apple thing, although they should be the ones providing at least the opportunity for the consumer to have better shit for their shit!

edit: And not having to use iTunes is wonderful! Also, Android is just fine, at least for me. Works fine, has a decent selection of applications for free or cheap. Granted, it is not as orderly as the apple store, but once again, not everyone needs 100+ apps installed!

hmm, I never look at accessories. I bought a bumper for my iPad and iPhone but that's it for accessories. I don't "shop" on Apple's site. I only go there to place an order for the latest iPhone/iPad. The short cables are cheap and do break down but I have them all over the place from all the previous Apple stuff I've had so I guess I've never needed more cables. I have two plugged into my iMac, one plugged into the wall in my bedroom, and one plugged into my PC at work. I never think about them really. They just sit there.

If I needed something else, I'd head to Fry's. They have a ton of Apple stuff. I'd recommend going there for cheaper accessories or find an online store other than Apple.

Amazon has iPhone cables for $1.47:

edit: hmm dropped to 1.45 on a screen refresh. Must be like a stock market commodity! Corner the market on iOS cables!

It's funny to trace Winnow's threads over the course of getting an iPhone until the present time. Or was the first an iPod? He has gone from total Apple hate to a slavish fanboy who gives Apple money nearly every year for no real reason.

Beware the Amazon cable vendors! Oftentimes, you'll get something that is not as advertised, especially with cables. Plenty of vendors will send you overstock iPod cables which will really only trickle-charge a iPhone and probably not work with a iPad at all. I've found this out the hard way.

The reviews seem ok:
While the picture shows an iPod connector manufactured by Apple, you are sent a third party cable which doesn't even allow me to connect my PC to my iPod. A total failure of a product and of a company.
The cable they sent is a cheap generic cable that doesn't work properly. It does not look anything like the image and it is not an Apple product. This product page is utterly misleading and should be modified to correctly describe the product this company is selling (i.e. a non-Apple, third party cable),
Product is cheap and of poor manufacture; routinely causes my iPod to disconnect and reconnect to my computer at the slightest bump of my iPod, potentially leading to data loss. Avoid!

They made some adjustments on the new cables released with the new iPad:

One of the major problems with Apple’s dock connector cables has always been the relatively sparse amount of strain relief. That’s the extra coving you see around the cable near the USB and dock connector. This reinforcement is designed to help prevent the dock connector cable from creasing and tearing at the ends.
The cable has been made slightly thinner in circumference, an upgrade that should help the cable be more flexible and less prone to kinking.
