My new kitty Meisha! Lots of pics inside

Buy a laser pointer. Cats will chase around the little red dot nonstop. Be careful of your speakers later on as cats like to use floor standing speakers as scratching posts.

Grats on the cat. Was it auto generated or did you pick the stats?

I picked her out. I was looking for a short haired female cat, that was really my only specific requirements, but she's definately the cutest one in the litter!

I already got the laser pointer, and a bunch of other toys for her. Also a scratching post and other things. She finally ate after about 14 hours of being here, and used the litter box within the first hour, so that's always a bonus!

She also falls asleep against me and starts purring, so she seems like she's getting comfortable. She has been crying a lot for her mommy and brothers / sisters, which is no surprise. Hopefully she'll get over it soon.

Adorable cat! :) And yeah, she'll get over the whining soon. Be aware that if you have a single cat they will be very needy and require tons of your attention since it doesn't have any cat company.

I love cats :) We got 5 of them!

Cleaning the litterbox sucks. Teach your cat to do this:

there isn't anything inhumane about declawing a cat's front claws. they fight, climb trees and defend themselves with their back claws. fronts are only really used for hunting.

Dont do the laser pointer thing, you might end up getting fined for it:

The oscillation of the spot beam, together with the air movement of the oscillatory fan, further stimulates activity in a cat while conveniently inducing convective cooling.

i declawed mine many years ago but for some reason he still manages to beat the shit out of the other neighborhood cats in the rare fight for some reason. He used to be indoor only but when he was about a year old i let him go outside (he spends about 3/4ths of his day indoors) and fortunately he takes care of all his business out there taking away the entire litter box problem 8) …if you have a smart cat I would highly recommend eventually exposing it to the outdoors (it will also save you quite a few holes in the screen if that’s an issue)

If you live in a place with a lot of traffic I would not let it go outside. The chance of it being killed is quite high. Not to mention it exposes it to a lot more diseases, bugs etc. If you live in a fairly rural place then that is fine. Also remember that it will get into fights outside, and cat bites are notorious for being infected which will result in trips to the vet. And half the time you will have problems even seeing the wound heh. And you can train your cat not to scratch, we have 5 indoor cats and none of them scratch on anything but their cat towers/scratching posts. So don't declaw the poor cat!

I also have to put in a word for the birds here...If you do allow your domestic cat outdoors attach a bell to its collar. Cats wreak havoc on songbirds...granted that is mostly an issue with feral domesticated cats but...

I am also pro soft claws, since it decreases their efficacy as a predator while minimally impacting the cat. Declawing is abhorrent and unnecessary...

there isn't anything inhumane about declawing a cat's front claws
So amputating the first joint on your cats front feet for no reason than to 'protect your furniture' is not inhumane? Wouldn't that be like cutting out the vocal chords of your newborn so you're not disturbed by their crying?
How do you feel about female circumcision? That's about as humane as uneccesarily amputating limbs on your pet.

they fight, climb trees and defend themselves with their back claws. fronts are only really used for hunting.
Bullshit.
A declawed cat can't climb a tree.
I've seen many a cat fight where noses, ears and faces have been bloodied from front claw swipes.

I have 2 clawed cats who scratch nothing but their scratching posts. I trim their claws weekly.

If you're too inept or lazy to train a cat not to scratch your furniture then you have no right owning one as a pet.
And letting a declawed outside is just stupid.

:vv_stupid: Could not have said it better myself. Been around cats my entire life and have 5 so I have a slight experience with them heh. I was stupid enough to declaw my first cat here before I really realized what it did and will never do it again. Btw even the declawed one will swipe with his front paws and NOT his back. And I would never let him out. Ever. He also bites a lot more than clawed cats do (even though he is a very well behaved cat).

Don't declaw the poor cat!

now on a serious note:
declawing a cat is really bad, they get terrible arthritis when they get older in their little paws. And as you know, you love your pets and you never want anything bad to happen to them, so why be the cause of their future pain?

It's all relative.

I couldn't care less if some asian person is eating a cat.... just so long as that cat wasn't someone's pet.

Pets are treated like a member of your family.
You hold them to different standards than you would other animals.
Nobody is talking about pet cows or pet pigs. They are not animals that are domesticated for companionship. They are bred and reared for the sole purpose of being food.

Amputating a kittens toes because you're too lazy/inept/stupid to train them not to scratch is not just inhumane, it's cruel.

Christ did anyone tell my old cat this? Because he didn't have any front claws and he was up every tree in the neighborhood every chance he got. Cats act aggresively with their front paws, but fights aren't fought with them. Cats fight by trying to roll onto their backs with the other cat on top and use their hind legs to rip. Cat's front claws aren't strong enough to use for anything but scratching and grabbing prey.

When cats fight other cats they tend to use all 4 paws and mouth...Grasping with the front and pummeling with the rear and biting whatever gets near the mouth...They also use their hinds to pummel prey to subdue it while holding with the fronts and biting...

When a cat is for fighting a potential predator (dog coyote opossum etc) they will always use front preferentially backing the predator up with a quick flurry of front claws and then bolt for cover...

I did have one cat who took used back a lot on dogs but that's because she liked to leap on them from above digging in with everything simultaneously the dogs avoided her like the black death...:)

Have you ever been in a fist fight? Because it is much more like a catfight than you may think.
Those first few blows from the frontal claws are similar to jabs to "feel" each other out.
Cats do use their back claws to really fight, and not their front claws. This means that when a declawed cat is losing a fight because they could not warn off another cat with their front claw prowess, they will often need to resort to hardcore violence with their rear claws. The rear claws can easily disembowel another cat, such as what happened to my neighbours tabby, Buster.(RIP)

If cats have front claws LIKE THEY ARE MEANT TO then they will show each other who is boss before someone gets killed needlessly and they will also move agilely and happily like they are meant to.

FUCK YOU lazy cat OWNERS who cannot teach your cats to use their body in harmony with our lives.
Why not just plug their assholes because you do not like cleaning up their shit.

We bought it locally here at a small pet store. Not seen the exact thing anywhere else, only seen it without the "cooling" element. It doesn't keep it freezing but definitely colder than room temperature. Has a small filter that you easily pull out and replace as well.
