Eh thats not hard, I know more 13 year olds that drink and lie to their parents than don't. Only need 1 bad parent for a whole group of kids to be able to do this (or once we turn 16, dont need anyone!), cause they just have to go stay with that parent and get drunk there. I know a friend of mine's mom who not only had another friend of mine smoking weed and drinking at age 14, but also tried to get her to try coke.

Sounds like the time i came home to find most of the forks out the silverware drawer destroyed, took the guilty parties favorite Hot Wheels and proceded to mash it to smitherings. Unfortunaltely i missed and didnt pick his favorite one

Yeah, seriously, if I did something that stupid I would fucking expect to be punished. I mean, my mom knows I drink and smoke, thats not a big deal, but being destructive \ stealing from my parents would be something completely different. And drinking and driving is one of the stupidest things possible, especially while driving a car like that, wtf, why even take that chance...

I'll give it to the kid for honesty. What are the parents doing wrong to let something like this happen in the first place.

seems that all they cared about was the value of the damages, rather than the fact that their 13 year old son was drinking.

discipline is crucial, but all these parents taught their son was that money = god.

Syenye that is the biggest stretch of fact I have seen in a long time. I am willing to bet this was merely part of the punishment.

However the fact is that if your 13 year old is getting drunk and wrecking things, then you are a shitty parent.

Anyone who keeps a bottle of $120 champagne in the fridge for a special occassion is a materialistic idiot in my book. If you can't afford to lose $120 on a bottle of champagne...no point in having it. And if you can't find a single reason to celebrate with a drink over the course of a year....kill yourself. Birthdays, Anniversaries, mothers day, Christmas, New Years...Not to mention things like a promotion or something that isn't already marked on a basic calandar for them....

Taking the playstation away was a strong parenting move. It hurt him where it counts and he learned a valuable lesson.

The lesson is "Don't touch mom and dad's shit".

I'm sure that's something that will be real important later on in the week when he is playing playstation at his friends house and staying out all night because he has nothing to do at home since he has no video games to play with. And if you don't think his friends who drank at his house would do the same thing at thier house heh...

Only thing is we don't know the conversations that took place or additional punishment.

If it was my 13 yr old son I'd probably try and get him interested in something else....he is obviously bored out of his skull if he is playing with some rusty ass bugle and going to the skating rink. Sounds to me like the skating rink was thier version of a baby sitter....

Saturday night I send my son & his friend to the skating rink like the rest of the parents. I was to pick him up from the skating rink after it ended. Well he went home, while I was not there with his friend and they invited someone I do not know to the house while WE were not there. I get home about 11:30 PM and find the house is wrecked. Beer was missing.

"Sent"?
"Like the rest of the parents"?
Hmmm...after they "sent" him...they go out for the evening?

Also once your kid turns 13 if you don't want him and his friends raiding your home for alcohol and drugs, your going to have to get the alcohol and drugs out of your home....because most teenagers are curious about that shit and if they aren't...thier friends will be.

You leave a bored teenager in a home often enough and he will find every little thing you don't want him to touch and touch it.

That is what I've always said!
