This should probably be in the computer forum but I need to get an answer sooner rather than later.

Zone Alarm 5 has been getting some really crappy reviews from what I read on C-net.

I have been checking out PC Cillin but the only person I know who uses it isn't a gamer and can't answer my questions.

Is PC Cillin a good program for someone who does online gaming like Age of Conquerors, Titans, and Mechwarrior? Not to mention FTP to update website and such?

The problem with firewalls or AV programs is that they will suck up a lot of precious system ressources that hardcore gamers aren't particularly willing to give up.

Frankly, if you have a broadband connection, get a broadband router/hub. they're cheap, you'll have the protection you want and you won't take a hit on your computer ressources.

I use Sygate Personal Firewall, have had no problems with it, and it's not a CPU hog. Very easy to use, and has advanced features for those who need'em.

I'm using Zone-Alarm Pro. I like it, and I have yet to see it be a resource hog.

If you use Win XP I believe Service Pack 2 (due in the next month or so?) will have the newer, user-friendy Windows Firewall built in.

Of course, bear in mind most problematic security flaws are within Windows products....

I second the Sygate suggestion
Sygate Personal Firewall Pro (Easily cracked) or the non-pro, free version are great.
