Horrible, one sided officiating took that one away from Calgary.
The lack of calls on Tampa was so blatent is was sickening.
I hope Kerry Frazier dies in horrible pain.

This final series left a bad taste in my mouth...could have been that beer I found next to the furnace...but also could have been the piss poor officiating in every game. Those guys couldn't make up their mind who they wanted to win.
I felt like the NHL comish goes to the locker room of the ref's and discusses who they want to win that nights game...

I hope Canada revolts. Between the way the MLB is treating the Expos and the no-call goal in game 6.. wow.

Bitch all you want, the Flames played dirty all series. I'm not saying the Lighting were squeaky clean, but I feel no sympathy for Calgary.

That's what I'm saying, it seemed they decided before the game who they would let slide more...hence an attempt on the outcome of the game based on officiating. Atleast that's how it feels.

...and the no-call goal in game 6.. wow.
As has been said in other places, it was the right call. Now some of the weak penalties called, while other things were let go...

Wrong. The one dirty hit in the series was Niemenen on Lecavalier, for which Niemenen got 5 minutes, a game misconduct and a game suspension (snuffing out any end-of-the-game heroics and putting a hole in his team's roster for the next game). Both teams had people who were meticulous about finishing their checks (the Fedotenko head off the ledge was ugly but not an intentionally dirty hit) and that was Calgary's style all the way along. Both teams did a little of the neutral zone hooking crap to slow the opposition (which does piss me off), usually once they were ahead and trying to retreat into their defensive shells. The problem with the officiating was the inconsistancy.
But make no mistakes: both teams had to deal with that handicap and Tampa adapted better.

You see the thing is. These people are human.
I play organized hockey myself. It's funny to hear how much banter comes from the bench bitching about the referees every call. They are always telling the referee. "Blow the whistle faster." "That was offside!" "That should have been a penalty." However, when something like that happens in our favour and the ref does not call it. It's a good job from the ref.
People will NEVER be happy with the officials because they are fucking human. They have to call what they see. We have ,what? , 10 different camera angles of a play that just happened. They have to call what they fucking see.
I agree sometimes they really fuck up. However, we do not see exactly what they see on the ice. Yes it's their job to see everything but once again. They are human.
Anyways, that's just my two senses about blaming shit on referees and saying that hockey is fixed.
P.S - Holy mother fucking shit! Lecavelier's moves for the second Tampa Bay goal... pure poetry!!! Man

If that was the right call then it personifies perfectly why I never have and never will enjoy watching hockey.

haha
you DID see the goal that Calgary scored, and the reason why they scored it, right? Talk about a blown call - and it wasn't against Calgary.

I wasn't "rooting" for either team...hence I feel my views of the officiating are very objective. That's just how it fealt to me. I don't truly believe they fixed the games, that would be way too hard to do.

I also agree Calgary was playing dirty throughout the series. The hit on Vinnie, the hit in game 7 on St.Louis, the lack of a conduct call on Iginla for the way he was carrying on (in any other game that would have been called), etc. There were a lot of those that weren't called against Calgary.
If you want to bitch about the so called 'no goal, goal', then you should also be bitching about the completely b.s. penalty against Tampa that resulted in Calgary getting a goal in game 7. Even someone not familiar with hockey rules could see that it was Calgary that caused that and not Tampa.
Home team or no, I believe Tampa won it fairly. After watching game 5, I wasn't thinking they deserved it, but after watching game 6 and 7, they most certainly did.

Overall I thought the officiating wasn't all that great. Not that it was onesided or anything, but it was (as usual in the NHL) very inconsistent. Tampa Bay played better in games 6 and 7...they earned the win.
Main call I didn't agree with in game 7 was the hit by Ference (I think) on St Louis...how was that a dirty hit? He didn't hit him from behind. The only reason that was called was because St Louis went hard into the boards. He got cut by the top of Ference's stick because he ended up with his head ducked down (and he's only 3 apples high to start with).
Should NOT have been a penatly. Ruined the last minute of the game and any real chance calgary had of tying it up (I still think Tampa would have won in the end...but it would have been nicer without that stupidass penalty)...and then to call a stupid make-up penalty on Andrechuk in the last what...20 seconds? Yeah...way to go.
Hats off to Tampa though...great year...same goes to Calgary.
Hope there's hockey to watch next year
