Damn...

If its true... damn... the stuff legends are made of.

If its not? Then its definitely a funny. But not legendary and will be quickly forgotten.

the only prank that could possibly be better then his vert hold TV special prank would be this (I remember my dad getting up to adjust the vert hold).

The source is tabloid trash with stories released like "Ambassador from Mars Receives 181,364 Spam Emails".

Also looking it up on the source site states that that news released is put on hold due to dispute.

I will only believe this whn the DNA results come in and the story airs on something like 60 minutes. But something tells me its just some nut trying to get 15 minutes of fame.

As cool as it would be I'm highly highly highly fucking skeptical.

EDIT: After reading the blog I'm convinced it's a joke. And a sort of poor one. He got some weak media source fooled, then discredited the only parts of the report that may have been able to verify if it was legit (abc news and ernst & young). Not to mention Kaufman would have eagerly sought out the spotlight especially if he'd managed to pull off a 20 year death hoax. Kudos to the guy for having the creative energy, but yea, obviously a fake :(

A shame! Maybe Hitler and Elvis will pop up next.

Man, when I first read this I believed it completely. I really want it to be true. The more I read of it, the less true it seems though.

I hope it's true, if so, that's so awesome and I'm pretty sure that it couldn't ever be topped, unless Amelia Earhart or Jimmy Hoffa produce themselves next week.

I'm quite certain that not every death certificate ever filed has been 100% accurate or authentic. I cannot presume to speak on the authenticity of that particular one, only that if one were going to fake their death, it probably would be prudent to have a fake death certificate made.

That would get you in trouble with the law and also the death certificate should be an official document verifiable in California. I doubt the government would go along with a hoax. If it can't be verified then you have a case.

That statute of limitations on faking ones death in California is apparently 7 years.

Whether true or not--either way--it certainly is the greatest hoax ever.
