27 up, 27 down. Hopefully his perfromance will inspire his lackadaisical teammates to push themselves as well.

I am glad he got this one. He has been one of the most dominating pitchers in years.

I love when older athletes do something like this and spit in the face of self-proclaimed "experts" that said they were past their prime and has-beens. Just shows you how little those "experts" really know.

Where's Voronwe? : ) Thx Braves!

I watched the last 3 innings of this game live. Randy's fastball was consistantly between 95-97mph and his slider was nasty.

Being in Arizona, I've been able to watch a ton of Randy Johnson pitched games over the past 5 years. I've seen the big names from other teams sit out when he pitches...it's called Randy-itis...suddenly sick when Randy pitches.

His last outting he pitched an awesome game but gave up a lead off HR. With the D-Backs sucking, he lost that game 0-1. Luckily, the D-Backs scored 2 runs for his perfect game.

That homer in his last start was to Kazuo Matsui. That was probably one of the best pitching matchups in recent memory. Tom Glavine and Randy Johnson were both unbelievable.

Yay Mets! :D

It was : )

Randy has had some poor support in the past. The game that he struck out 21 batters, he held the opposing team to ZERO runs but the D-Backs lost the game for him in OT I think. That also provided an * on his record because it was on overtime game even though Randy only Pitched 9 Innings.

Hey we did win the World Series though! : )

Yep, the entire 9th inning had multiple 97 mph fastballs. Fucking sick, 88-91 sliders in the 9th. Shit, that 2nd to last pitch said 97 but it and to be 100. And I never saw a catcher jump that high heh

Most folks dote on his fastball. His slider is fucking sick. As good a pitch anyday as Clemens or Lieter's cutter.

There are a lot of guys who can throw a 98 mph fastball. It's the slider that makes the Big Unit exceptional.

I wouldn't say that, I think most people 'doted' on his fastball being able to go the distance. His fastball in the 9th, is everybitasmuch his fastball in the 1st, much like say, his hero Nolan Ryan's!

But after pitching 9 innings? Not many pitchers could keep the fastball at that speed after 100+ pitches.

It's not the slider or the fastball. It's the release point, which if you're a lefty, scares the bujeesus out of you because it looks like he's throwing right at you.

Really wish he never left the Mariners...

why, they're a second rate team.

He was a star in the midst of struggling pitchers, their talent scouts are questionable, their stadium is subpar.

It was a good move for him. Not to mention I think being paired with Schilling really made for some friendly competitveness that pushed him a little harder to excel.

So you'd rather him piss away his career there, than move on to a championship and I don't remember how many awards?

Well....he did win a world series with the D-Backs but we suck now : (

I'll be selfless as well and say he should move on to one more team for one last shot at another title... Boston! Fuck the Yankees!

What about the Reds. They could use another starting pitcher as they steamroll their way to the playoffs
