I just got a new laptop and want to download music and burn it onto cd's.
This is a new thing for me (yeah I know...I'm a caveman).
I can grab songs from other cd's but I want to download stuff. I have kazaa but it only downloads mp3s? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong there hehe.
Any help would be appreciated. Quick and easy (idiotproof) methods are always best for me.

any software you use gives you the option to burn as data(mp3s) or audio cd
though most cd players these days play both
even windows itself can do this

i use the windows shell mostly, but itunes sometimes as well, just pop in a disc, open it up as a folder and drag the songs/files you want into it, when you have enough, hit file, burn to disc, and it gives you the option on how to burn it

if you use itunes, the option is in the preference menu to burn as data or audio cds

No kidding? That's good news, I guess. I DID manage to burn a few songs onto one cd and it plays pretty good in the laptop but no other cd player will play it....sup with that?

if you're using XP, you can just drag and drop the mp3 files onto the CD-RW drive and XP will prompt you to make an audio CD or a data CD...and handles the conversion from mp3 to audio on the fly if you choose audio CD.

did you make sure you burned it as an 'audio cd' ?
playability in computers is something that means little since a pc will read anything that could be on the cd(cd file, mp3, wave file etc..)
if it plays in some cd players and not others
it could just be an old cd player
some cd players have problems playing cdrs, esp cdrws

yeah, i think most commercial steroes you buy now will be normal cds or mp3 cds(a neat feature, as you can fit hours of music on a disc that way)
