That keeps backups of CD's in mp3 format? I have found that most of my legally purchased CD's are destroyed due to water damage. I don't intend to rebuy them and would rather just be able to get the mp3's of them since it is a hell of a lot easier format to play on the computer anyway. Anyone?

Oh, like we're going to fall for that. You're probably in cahoots with RIAA!

Damn lizard! I mainly just don't want to use Kazaa or any of those file sharing programs to get my copies. Several of my CD's will skip like hell or won't read at all. If they force me to download from Kazaa I am going to go overboard!

Usenet.
alt.binaries.sounds.mp3. Along with other various subgroups.
Only difference being you're at the mercy of others to post it. Although you can always post a REQ:uest.

There are shitloads of full albums posted on Usenet.
Check there every night and download another 10-30 albums off various mp3 newgroups. alt.binaries.something.something.fullalbum is one of many. They also have specific groups for 60's, 70's,80's, 90's, rock, hard rock, etc etc etc.
Get BNR2, search for mp3 in newgroups, pick out the groups that have more than 10,000 or 50,000 posts and download away. You can get an entire album in about 5 minutes this way if you know how to use multiple connections to servers. That's more than 10 full albums and hour. Single songs are just a few seconds.
The slight learning curve is well worth the rewards.
I never touch kazaa type p2p's unless i'm desparate for a single specific song and I needed it right away. If so I use WinMX.
