Did you find it funny?

I'd like to consider myself a very laid back person who'll laugh at pretty much anything, even things that aren't in the slightest bit funny, but I didn't find the Yantis situation humorous at all. A lot of people got genuinely upset by it (and I'm not talking about the people who obviously went overboard).

I'm certainly not trying to make a big deal out of this, but I think this was lacking in taste and should have been stopped as soon it became obvious that people were really letting this get to them.

Hell yes I found it funny, with a fucking brilliant setup.

Xou et al, this made my day. Congratulations!

Brotha, I want to say this straight to you, you helped me long long ago and I have always considered you a friend, even when we disagree (politics mostly), I have always liked you. I went along with the joke and lied to you directly, and since you didn't find it funny, I am sorry old friend.

the "class act" bit, i was cracking up laughing the whole time. it was just funny as hell.

but this, not funny.

i'm not offended or upset or anything like that, i just didn't find it funny.

My superior intellect (common sense) prevents me from falling for stupid shit but I felt bad for those that were upset by the deceptive style humor attempt.

Very poor taste to include a pregnancy and financial aspect to a joke after asking for donations so recently. It's easy to lie about RL things and have people believe them. I prefer the direct humor and flames to deception but everyone's different.

It was funny for me, but I knew about it pretty early on. I think maybe it got a little out of hand. I dont think it was too successful, it seemed like most people didnt believe it.

I think common sense should have thrown down a flag on the play when the supposed pricetag was 20k. I mean, come on. That was the big giveaway right there. Coupled with April 1st, and it's like pasting a giant sign on it that said JOKEZ. People who got all worked up over it were the punchline!

The joke was ok. I found the reaction to it funny though! If we could just harness the incendiary responses we could power the nation! :)

For those of us who were actually in the know - I think it was a hell of a lot funnier than for everyone else....but honestly, if you were actually offended or hurt by this, I have only one piece of advice for you: get a fucking life, loser

The joke itself wasn't that funny. The reactions were priceless.

I think the reactions were the funniest part of the whole thing. The joke was almost expected with the timing of it. What will really be funny is if the real Yantis finds out and sometime down the road really does make an offer for the site.

And the bit about the ring too. That was a clever throwback to the Sunmoon thing a while ago throught up by Raistin.

My favorite part was the two assholes who have never donated whining about the donations...

i thought it was funny.

i was fooled.

i think this is a great example of how most people (myself included) overreact all the time on internet messageboards. should be a valuable lesson on how to manage one's emotions! :p

very well executed too!

The first time I read the thread, I knew it was a joke immediately. I didn't have to read the moderator forums.

Mountains out of molehills.

The thing you are all missing is that I'd never let those douchebags Py and Xou sell without cutting me in.

If they did, I'd have this bad boy back up and running in under an hour, don't worry your pretty little heads about it.

Hell yeah it was funny.

Take note: the ones that got pissed off and swore to kill ZooCow with a dull spoon are the same ones that claim to have thick skins. haha

I'm guessing the poll would have different results if it was posted yesterday before the cat was 'out of the bag'. :)

Good prank, not many worthy April Fools jokes played that get such a reaction.

But man, what a bunch of wet blankets.

I didn't really have an opinion one way or another since I haven't been around much the past few days. But probably would have been funnier if it hadn't come on the heels of the other (obvious) joke involving VS.

i thought it was hilarious :D I was cracking up at some of the reactions. I knew from the moment i looked up the whois that i was a joke.

I found it as funny as someone dying.

Sorry, but I found zero humor in it at all. I think it executed well, but the the subject matter was poorly chosen.

hahahahahahhaahahahahahaha

Three cheers for the architects of this fine joke!! I've been in stitches watching the o-so predictable reactions from some of the frothing freaks we have around here

It was funny, because of the whole 'bought out by yantis' thing. Though there were too many people calling it a joke about 30 minutes after the splash page changed. But i'll give you credit for it: it made me laugh :D

Sparty hit the nail on the head. It was Andy Kaufman like humor. Very edgy and always going a bit too far. If you are into that kind of humor (I am, personally) it was a masterful joke played out with a lot of skill. If you weren't into it (or had gone through a similar thing like Diae had), you probably got rubbed the wrong way by it. It all depends on how thin your skin is and how cynical you are, I guess.

What Aranuil said was dead on, though. Watching the people who swallowed the hook start up another board and/or overreact was priceless. I think we should have a hall of shame with the most infamous threads and that thread should be the first one moved there. I am personally going to be laughing at this long after this board ceases to exist, myself. Well done, guys. And honestly, anyone with half an ounce of common sense should have known it was a joke since the clues were there from the beginning.

The best thing about the joke was the introduction of the "Yantis" character way before the actual events. That was the truly beautiful stroke, if it had totally come out of nowhere it would have lacked the funny.

I thought it was pretty obvious it was a joke when Xou mentioned wanting to get a nice ring...

The joke/prank wasn't that funny. But, the fact that Xou put his balls on the line to make this joke/prank work, is what makes this so genius in my eyes. Hats off Xou and players =) I thought I was gonna have to write another Jew poem.

My name is Sparty
