FF Benihana Dinner

EDIT: After talking to the Hilton, taking reservations for a party this large requires filling out a form, putting up my CC,and getting approval. Not to mention if we have less than number of people we reserve for, there is a $25 charge per head for no shows. Our best bet is to get there a little early and let them seat us without a reservation. Lucky for us, there are no big parties scheduled for Friday at this point. Last year we had around 30 of us and most of us were seated next to each other.
Thanks! :D

The restaurant opens at 5:00 PM and Dinner prices range from $15 - $40.

Looking like a pretty good time so far.

It should be mentioned that you can't just sit at a table with the gang for nada...there is basically an entertainment fee if you do, was it $10 bucks last year?...And does anyone recall the average cost of a meal? I'm not goin I just remember that taking us or some of us off guard last year...Though it was <3 food...just remember to budget for it...:)

Perhaps a Las Vegan could call and get high/low entree prices for the place, for the students etc...:)

Arbor, Benihana in Atlanta average meal prices tend to be $18-25. Now of course Vegas may be more expensive.

Toker replied for me. I'll be there. I am a vegetarian, so not sure if there is stuff for me to eat, but if not I'll make up for that by ordering enough drinks that they won't care.

they have vegetarian meals. even if not on the menu, you can talk to the chef right there.

if you have a problem with your food being prepared on the same cooking surface as meats as well as with the same utensils, well then you are fucked :)

When I was there last time they cooked the vegies before they cooked the meat, so mixing was not really an issue.

Wish I could go this year :(

And thanks for the title change. :P There actually is a Cupcake Sprinkletop (though he spells it differently) on Veeshan, and I work with him irl.

You can get the vegetable tempura, I don't know if they have it there but I have eaten it at other restaurants similar to Benihanas. It's pretty good. Tempura means batter fried, so it's not done at the table.

They do cook the vegetables before the meat. However...They cook the chicken fried rice before the vegetables from my experience.

They also have sushi, I'm not sure if that counts.

Look mainly at the side-order area.

If all else fails or your not hungry...you can always take the oppotunity to get drunk. The serve some drinks in buddha souvenier glasses, I tried to aquire a buddha army one night. I had quite a few lined up.

In my experience, it hasn't been "chicken fried rice" per se, though they do make it with eggs.

And if you want to just drink and not eat, a lot of Japanese restaurants (including Benihana) charge a seating fee (as Arbor said) of something around $10. I think you still get soup and salad for that cost though, both of which should be vegetarian-friendly.

Oddly enough...

Oddly enough... completely unaware of Fan Fare I got myself a flight to Vegas... I will be leaving Vegas on the 1st... so no Fan Fare for me.

However I am talking to the Owners/Moderators I hang with on EQII.com and they found out I was going to be in Vegas and happened to be going to Fan Fare and said I should hook up with them.

So if they will not be there the night before I will probably try and make it to this dinner.... or maybe I can convince them to tag along also.

In any case I would really like to meet some of you guys in RL... most of you probably forgot who the hell I am... but Thess, Winnow and prob Sylvus remember me... and it would be worth it just to meet them.

The catch is this... I will have my wife and daughter with me... so I will also have to try and sort that out also... odds are they will not want to be there.

Oh shit... Thess... you live there right? If I can't do dinner with everyone at once... be expecting a PM from me....

God my wife is going to hate me.... turning a family vacation into hooking up with like 40 EQ junkies.... oh well.

Fried rice and vegetarians

It depends on the Benihana's or maybe the time of day

Downtown Cincy at lunch -
no chicken in rice
vegetables in side dish are carrots and onions

tri-county Ohio (north of Cincy) at dinner -
chicken
vegetables in side-dish are zuchinni and onion

I am not sure if it is meal dependent or branch dependent.
in all cases they have egg in the rice.... although you can request it without at least in tri-county.

I learned to cook Japaneese-American food from Benihana's just by watching them... and I am pretty damn good at it.... some say I can do it better... however if I tried to flip my utensils around while I cook like they do sometimes (not all the time...) someone would get seriously SERIOUSLY hurt heh....

Anyway this info was mostly for the vegeterian guy..

For you other guys... if you are allergic to shell fish.... like highly allergic... tell them prior... everyone gets a shrimp appetizer with thier meal (at least at the ones I have gone to) and this is prepared BEFORE your meal.... on the same surface. So this might be of importance to you... I dunno.

Let me just say that Vannoth is mean and cruel, so mean and cruel that I no longer think of him as Saiphos, friendly and weird lizard with a slightly disturbing gnome-fetish, but as VANNOTH, evil overlord of Fan Faires, slave of the entertainment-industrial complex, tormentor of small animals and giver of very rude titles.

I hate he.
