Personally, I think that they, and anyone that would attend Liberty are whackos. However, those rules, while harsh, are not unreasonable given the type of university that Liberty is. They are a fundamentalist Christian institution, so naturally their rules will reflect their beliefs. No one forces the students to attend that University. The people that go there submit themselves to the rules of the University willingly because they WANT to be members of Fallwel's army of Bible thumping fanatics. Liberty is kind of like West Point for the Moral Majority.

Assault/sexual assault (minimum two (2) semesters out)
so, if you rape someone, you may have the option to come back in a year. Just seems weird!

I worked this past summer in Tulsa, OK, home of Oral Roberts University. Weirdest fucking place I have ever seen. The college kids looked like the "popular crowd" from Animal House. The driveway to the university was crowned my a 30 foot tall pair of praying hands in bronze. I decided not to turn around in their driveway because I was certain those hands of doom would come down and crush a heathen like me. Meanwhile, here I am listening to Black Sabbath. I did crank it a bit.

Later I watched a broadcast on the hotel TV of the welcome address for the new students. Again, uber weirdness. Students, faculty and administrators alike all do that unsettling "speaking in tongues" gibberish. At one point, the CEO of the college (Oral's son) beseeched the Lord to keep the Devil away from their campus. I laughed and thought that the Devil sure as hell would stay away from that place, as there were easier pickings anywhere else.

Just as bad, or maybe worse, Liberty was founded by Jerry Falwell's organization in 1971 (I don't believe he was in charge back then)). He was (in)famous in the 80's for forming the Moral Majority, a right-wing religious PAC. He's now the Chancellor of the school, and as much of a right-wing religious nut-case as there is. He drew some heat just after the 9/11 attacks for saying (while a guest on Pat Robertson's "700 Club" fanatic round-up) that "God gave us (the U.S.) what we deserve," because he's punishing us for turning our backs on him.

Unauthorized borrowing (plus financial restitution)
Isn't this a nice way of saying stealing?

Guess not
Stealing or possession of stolen property (plus financial restitution; minimum two semesters out)
So if you steal something just say it was unauthorized borrowing and get the lesser penalty. :)

30 Reprimands + $150 Fine + Expulsion + Re-education in non-fundamentalist ethos (regardless of previously paid fines)

Students will be informed of the necessity of this upon graduation from Liberty University.

If I get expelled, is it likely i'm going to go to a re-education camp because my expelling school says I have to?

Hair and clothing styles related to a counterculture (as determined by the Deans' Review Committee) are not acceptable.
Fear the counter culture!....as determined by the Dean's review committee. Fear individuality!

Jesus was also the definition of "counterculture" for his time. Amazing what all his good teachings have degraded into 2000 years later.

I had a friend whose mom would always be doing that when I went over. Freaky stuff!

Although I don't think the two are related. That is, I don't think she did that because I was an unwashed heathen in their home.

I didnt go to the site, but based on what people quoted here I have a pretty good understanding of what its about.

Reminds me of a local Christian college back home near where I work (I work for the City). They somehow struck a deal with the after-school day care division and mass-hired about 20 of these students. The interaction with these people is beyond weird. Half the stuff we would do they would like at us like we were from another country.

Our uniform dress code was considered too explicit for them. All women were required to wear pants or skirts that stayed above the ankle. Men were required to where button shirts, tucked in, and no t-shirts allowed. Any sort of physical contact with a member of the opposite sex was forbidden. Their curfew was 9pm, and if they were out later because of work, they had to have permission from their pastor to stay out. Anyone without a car was required to be picked up by the college's vanpool. I took one of them home once, and I had KIIS-FM on the radio (those who live in LA know what I'm talking about. They're a top-40 station), and the guy told me to turn that radio off because he was offended. Hehe, my boss asked one of the girls if she wanted to join him for lunch during lunch break. She said sure, but the pastor would have to meet them at the restraunt and my boss would have to pay for his food.

It's so sad how sheltered that make these people live. I went to a Christian school from elementary through junior high, and thank God (no pun intended) that my parents enrolled me in public high school. They wanted me to get an education, but also learn to be street smart too. I've known people who graduated from these types of schools. They get very very rebellious for being so restricted for most of their young adult life, and the real world eats them alive. :(

I would get expelled within 3 days. Maximum.

When you're parents talked about sending you to medical school to become a doctor, little did you know, they were just touching the tip of the iceberg O.O

What was it that Ted Bundy was so anxious to say? He felt he owed it to society to warn of the dangers of hard-core pornography and to explain how it had led him to murder so many innocent women and girls. With tears in his eyes, he described the monster that took possession of him when he had been drinking. His craze to kill was always inflamed by violent pornography.
Pornography turns you into a violent serial killer!
