Remember "Jenny" by Tommy TuTone?
"I got it (I got it), I got it
I got your number on the wall
I got it (I got it), I got it
For a good time, for a good time call
Jenny don't change your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny I've got your number
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)"
How much would you pay for Jenny's
telephone number?

Varia's post about 80k made me do a second take because it was 67,100 when I posted it. I just looked and between the time I posted that link and now the amount has jumped to $201,100.00 US.
Who is trying to out bid me damnit!

DAMN! See that is why I'm broke, I use to work for a wireless provide, MY SAME wireless provider... I bet I could have gotten that number... crap...
However if someone ACTUALLY pays that for it they are crazy, 5 grand maybe to but not 200,000 plus.

I heard this morning that the phone company that originally owned that number is suing to not have that number sold, since it was "never his" to begin with. I'll look for a news article, but I haven't seen one yet.
Source was Kevin & Bean morning show on KROQ in LA. Take it for what it's worth.

That's gotta suck for the guy if Verizon does not let him sell it. I guess he should of done his homework.
Although I am certain Verizon has a 900 page document that is Font -9 that somewhere in there mentions that you cannot sell the phone number.

Which is interesting since people now apparently "own" their cellphone numbers. Could make for some interesting arguments if it goes to court.

When I was a student at Penn State, we made it a semesterly ordeal to call 867-5309 to see what poor slob got that number this time around. The phone numbers for Penn State dormitories are 867-53**...so, naturally, we would call "Jenny" all the time.
