First Concert You Ever Attended

The other 80's metal thread reminded me of the first concert I got to go to. What was your first show?
My first concert was the Headbanger's Ball Tour with Anthrax, Exodus and Helloween in 88. I was 10 years old at the time. My friend and I actually talked his born again Christian mom into taking us. I still can't believe we managed to pull that off (his mom was totally like the mom from Detroit Rock City). We actually got to stay for the whole thing. She never took us to a show again though haha.

The first concert I attended myself was at a festival, Roskilde festivalen in Denmark 1987 at the age of 15, single reason I whent was for Sonic Youth. Other bands I saw there included The Goo-Betweens, Flaming Lips , Iggy Pop, Curtis Mayfield and Bob Geldof. Later that year I was at Monsters of Rock in Oslo, Norway with Metallica, Motorhead and some other bands, what I most remeber is my freind Ricky stagediving with his skateboard braking both his arms and smashing some dudes head with the skateboard causing major mayhem among the intoxicated hard rockers.
My sisiter own me pretty hard tho, she saw Sex Pistols 78 in Skövde, now if you look up a atlas of Sweden and ask your self wtf Sex Pistols did in Skövde.........

First concert ever:
INXS and Iggy Pop back in...damn...something like 1987?
...with a newly formed Guns 'n' Roses opening. Man, they sucked.
Iggy was badass, though. Played a lot of Stooges songs, and a lot of stuff off of "The Idiot."

I was a late bloomer as far as concerts go. My first concert was the first Lollapalooza in '91.
It was the summer after I graduated high school, and I didn't bother to tell my mom the concert was in Raleigh, NC (Walnut Creek Amp.), which was about six hours drive from my parents home. I was set to leave for college a few days later, but I couldn't pass up seeing my favorite band at the time, Jane's Addiction. A high school friend of mine and these two younger girls came along. The concert was great, and I just HAD to have a t-shirt to remember the occasion. I was pretty low on cash but decided to buy it anyway thinking that someone else could help pay for gas. How wrong I was.
We left the venue after midnight. When we hit about a quarter tank with still many more miles to go, I knew we might be in trouble. I was exhausted. The two girls were in the back of my truck sleeping we drove what seemed like forever. I was scraping for every penny to get us home. If I had just not bought that t-shirt, but we made it with not much gas to spare and my mom was none the wiser. Funny thinking back now that my mom never once questioned me coming in so late.
I'm a concert maniac now. Last year, I went to somewhere around 30 concerts. Guess I'm trying to catch up.

I remember when Metallica toured with Guns n Roses and Faith No More (1992). It was at the pinnacle of GnR popularity, but the show I had tickets for was cancelled because of some BS with Axel Rose. I never did make it to the show, when they rescheduled. This was back when Metallica had long hair! I was really going to see Metallica and Faith No More. Axel Rose has got to be one of the most over-rated performers rock has ever known.

Danzig/Metallica outdoor show in Molson Park was my first concert. Was fucking great too. Was crazy looking out over the crowd and seeing this one solid mass moving like an ocean with the headbanging and waving fists.

Metallica, Black tour, 1993 at the Tampa Fairgrounds.
Suicidal Tendancies, Fight, and Candlebox opened for them. Alice In Chains was supposed to as well, but their lead singer had "laryngitis."
Such a fucking awesome show! I even chipped a tooth in the pits!

I saw that tour twice, once in Reno and again in Sacramento, I had a pass to the 'snake pit' what a fucking joke that was, I went back out to the floor where the real pit was.
Edit: I think it was later in the tour is when GnR joined em, then there was that riot when Hettfield got burned up and Axel refused to sing or some shit.

My brother took me to the doobie bros, pink floyd and aerosmith in no particular order before 5th grade (his version of babysitting) but my first chosen concert (other then local jazz, folk or blues fests) was the Dead, 1983, last St Stephen, and it was the only song I knew at the time.

First.. The Eagles w/Jimmy Buffet opening for them in Tampa Stadium (the old stadium - last concert played there for a very long time). Can't remember how old I was, but it was a great concert.
Best concert is a tie between Bon Jovi/Skid Row and Iron Maiden's 7th Son of a 7th Son concert (which I saw twice, in 2 states openers were Hurricane in Kansas, and Savatage in Florida). Runner up would probably be the Ratt/Poison concert. Was there for Poison, Ratt sucked.
Worst concert was definitely Kiss. Saw them twice, for consecutive albums.. the concerts were carbon copies of each other. Same words, same song order 99%.. just sucky. (Non make-up concerts)

The first I really remember was Roy Orbison in 1987 or so. Too bad I wasn't wise enough to really appreciate his music at the time. A bit of a bummer that he was playing some lame free 4th of July outdoor show. He was better than that.
First "real" concert was probably Pearl Jam on April 22, 1992. Just before they really got big. So it was a small outdoor show of 1400 and didn't even sell out until that night. It was a great concert. Probably one of the highlights as far as concerts I've seen goes.

pearl jam, mid high schoolish~ could be the same tour you saw aslanna. urge overkill and mudhoney (i think) opened for them. i can't remember where the concert was, somewhere on the strip. maybe the old aladdin.

Talking Heads, Remain in Light tour, 1980. Great show, and it remains one of the two or three loudest shows I have ever been to. Adrian Belew was playing guitar - what a nut!
My first show should have been The Who a year or two earlier. Alas, the show was cancelled shortly after the Cincinati Who show, where some folks got trampled to death.
