If you were hanging out, in a bar, with friends, having some drinks - maybe shooting some pool or whatever... what are some songs you'd want to hear?
No ballads. Fuck ballads! I'm looking for party songs - that inspire drinking and/or dancing!

You want single songs?, entire albums?

Just singles.
Doing some KJ work but I need to compile tunes to play when people aren't singing. So I guess I am a part-time DJ too. But what I want to hear and what other people want to hear doesn't necessarily mesh. So I am picking your brains for ideas I may not have heard of.

Lets start with almost anything by Geroge Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic.

When you mention that situation specifically (including pool) my night is never complete without some SRV...Tin Pan Alley to be even more specific.

G'damn, I find this song to be horrid. It was recommended to me and I made the mistake of DL'ing it and now I cry everytime I listen to There is a Light That Never Goes Out just remembering how that song butchered it. To each it's own though...
As for party atmosphere, no party is complete without a lil B-52's. Nothing like Rock Lobster or Love Shack to get everyone singing along.

Indeed - to each his/her own. I love the Smiths, and my little group of friends here are all somewhat fond of some IDM stuff, too...so that one gets played a lot.
Also, I 100% endorse Rock Lobster. No other single song (save maybe the Cramps' "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns") makes me wanna shake my boo-tay more. When Fred Schneider says "Pass the tanning butter," did it ever sound to you like, "The satanic butter?"
